Job summary

Mission Neighborhood Centers is seeking an Enrichment Program Aide to deliver high-quality out-of-school time programming for elementary youth in San Francisco. You will assist with planning and facilitating enrichment activities during the school year, spring and summer breaks, and help create a safe, engaging environment with transportation from school and homework support.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and evaluate recreation and enrichment activities in accordance with DCYF contract regulations.
• Provide direction and assistance to youth, instructing them on rules and guidelines for proper participation in games and various recreational activities.
• Develop innovative, culturally and linguistically responsive lesson plans and curriculum that build academic skills and in compliance with DCYF contract requirements.
• Perform administrative tasks including data collection, record attendance, DCYF meal/food related documents, routine reporting, and submission of monthly narratives.
• Track inventory of program food and supplies; prepare order lists for the Program Coordinator and Associate Director.
• Support behavior management and help maintain a positive, nurturing environment that promotes youth success.
• Ensure the safety and supervision of youth, adhering to safety guidelines, and reporting any concerns to management. Completing incident reports as needed.
• Assist in development and implementation of an outreach plan to recruit youth from the target population, including but not limited to collaborations with SFUSD, CBOs, and other organizations.
• Act as a liaison with schools, community, organizations, and parents/guardians of youth.
• Assists in registration and orientation process for youth and parents/guardians.

Under the supervision of the OST Program Coordinator, the Enrichment Program Aide is responsible for delivering high-quality out-of-school time programming for elementary school-aged youth. This role involves assisting with the planning and facilitation of enrichment activities during the school year, as well as spring and summer breaks.The Enrichment Program Aide maintains a safe and engaging environment, oversees transportation from school, provides homework support, and helps build a culturally responsive curriculum focused on developing academic skills and social-emotional learning. Administrative responsibilities include monthly reporting, record-keeping, and data entry. Additional tasks may be assigned to support overall program goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Communicate with parent/guardians regarding y o u t h progress and promptly address any behavioral or safety concerns. Write incident reports as needed.
• Collaborate in the planning and implementation of community events, resource fairs, and other youth services events.
• Recruit in kind service providers to implement cultural enrichments, health and wellness, youth leadership and other activities within the program.
• Represent MNC at community forums, DCYF meetings and trainings, always demonstrating professionalism and strong customer service.
• Advocate for youth needs, providing referral information, when appropriate to internal and external services based on individual youth needs. Provide follow-up as needed.
• Maintain accurate program records and follow reporting procedures. Compile, analyze, verify, and submit data according to DCYF guidelines.
• Create long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines.
• Assist in the supervision of volunteers and high school staff during program hours.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings, 1:1 supervision, daily check ins, and training courses offered.
• Support the day-to-day operations of the program as needed.
• Stay informed on community issues relevant to MNCs mission and program operations.
• Manage daily tasks independently and communicate with supervisor when needed assistance.
• Promote participation of youth, school staff, volunteers, and parents/guardians.
• Actively engage in the development and implementation of a personal professional growth plan.
• Use company vehicles to transport participants from school or other designated locations to the program site and back, following all traffic laws and organizational policies.
• Support other MNC programs as needed.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education Preferred:

AS Degree with an emphasis in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration or related field; bachelor’s degree a plus.

Experience:

Required: Nonprofit experience with a strong understanding of trauma-informed practices. Prior experience working with elementary-aged youth is required.

Requirements:

• Valid California Driver’s License and current auto insurance with a clean driving record.
• Current physical health screening (updated every 2 years).
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (renewed every 2 years).
• Up-to-date TB test and immunizations (renewed every 2 years).
• Child Abuse Index clearance.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit approximately 50% of the time, walk 30% of the time, and stand 20% of the time.
