Job summary

Environmental Designs is seeking a qualified crew supervisor to direct field activities on job sites, following schedules and standards set by the Production Manager. The role manages a team of two to six crew members and ensures high-quality landscape maintenance work.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of commercial landscape experience, a valid driver license, pesticide license or ability to obtain within a year, and the ability to communicate in English and Spanish.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of commercial landscape experience required.
  • Valid driver license strongly preferred; pesticide license within one year preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate commercial landscape equipment and tools.
  • Ability to communicate in English / Spanish; bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a crew; high quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Direct crew activities on site according to schedules and procedures.
  • Assign daily tasks and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Perform landscape maintenance including sod, planting, drainage, and debris removal.
  • Safely operate landscape equipment and report repairs.
  • Supervise loading/unloading and on-site training; resolve conflicts.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the manager and crew.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the direction of crew activities on job site, according to pre-established schedules, standards and procedures to provide a high quality of service, as directed by Ancillary Manager or Production Manager. This position supervises a crew of typically two to six crew members.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of commercial landscape experience required

  • License or Certification: Valid driver license issued by the state where employed is strongly preferred

  • Pesticide License: issued by the state where employed or ability to obtain within one year

  • Specialized Skills: Ability to safely operate commercial landscape equipment and tools

  • Ability to complete tasks assigned in a timely manner

  • Ability to motivate and lead subordinates

  • Strong commitment to high quality of work and customer service

  • Ability to communicate in English / Spanish

  • Ability to communicate effectively with crew members and Area Manager

  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish strongly preferred but not required

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out tasks

  • Deal with standardized situations with occasional variables


Physical Requirements


  • Constantly required to talk, hear, see, sit, stand and walk

  • Must be able to see at close vision, distant vision, peripherally, have depth perception and have the ability to adjust focus

  • Ability to drive a vehicle with passengers, and at time a trailer attached, short and long distances throughout the workday

  • Frequent use of hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools or controls

  • Frequently required to reach, bend, twist stoop, crouch, climb and balance on surfaces that may be narrow and/or slippery

  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds


Work Conditions


  • Frequently works with mechanical objects and outside in all weather conditions

  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals

  • Frequently exposed to loud noise levels

  • During COVID-10 pandemic, must have the ability to wear face coverings while performing work and throughout the workday (dependent upon orders in each geographic region)


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


  • Understand and Implement job specifications for each site

  • Assign daily tasks to crew members and ensure compliance

  • Perform landscape maintenance tasks including, but not limited to sod, plant, boulder, stump, soil and bark installation, replacement, and/or removal; debris removal; drainage installation; trench digging

  • Safe operation of landscape equipment, including but not limited to: ditch witch, wheelbarrows, power tools, backpack blowers, chipper, stump grinder, riding lawn mower, bobcats, tractors, and bull dozers

  • Report equipment in need of repair

  • Supervise safe loading and unloading of equipment

  • Assist with initial and on-going training of crews

  • Discuss job site observations with manager on a regular basis

  • Ensure adherence to company policies

  • Develop and maintain a positive work relationship with manager and team members

  • Shows up to work each day on time; completes all tasks within time expectations; adheres to company dress code policy; wears clean clothes to work each day; follows inclement weather policy and sick leave reporting procedures

  • Perform minor irrigation repairs and maintenance

  • Perform minor in-field maintenance and repairs of equipment

  • Evaluate crews’ performance on a consistent basis and report to manager

  • Facilitate conflict resolution between crew members

  • Other duties as assigned

Salary Information

Pay range: $ 22.50 – $28.00
