Job summary

Varsity Tutors in Texas is actively seeking a Texas Certified Teacher to join our Live Learning Platform as a remote tutor. You’ll draw on classroom practice to deliver effective one-on-one instruction from your home, with flexible scheduling and competitive rates.

Earn up to $40 per hour through session-based pay, with payments issued up to twice per week. You’ll connect with students online using our platform and Tutor Copilot helps with planning and engagement.

Qualifications

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (Required) from TEA
• Strong subject matter expertise and ability to connect K-12 concepts to student needs
• Experience teaching in a Texas classroom with TEKS standards
• Ability to diagnose gaps, adjust pacing, and teach with multiple methods
• Excellent communication and engaging teaching style

Responsibilities

What We Look For In a Texas Certified Teacher Tutor

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (Required): Must hold a current, active teaching certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). You will be asked to provide your certificate number during the application process for verification at tealprod.tea.state.tx.us.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge in your certified subject area(s), with the ability to connect K-12 curriculum concepts to student needs across grade levels and learning goals.
• Classroom Teaching Experience: Demonstrated experience in a Texas classroom setting, with a strong understanding of TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) standards and how to apply them in one-on-one instruction.
• Conceptual Teaching & Adaptive Instruction: Skilled at diagnosing student gaps, adjusting pacing and approach, and explaining concepts through multiple methods to meet each student where they are.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
