Varsity Tutors, a Nerdy Company, seeks a Texas-certified teacher to join its Live Learning Platform as a remote tutor. You will deliver one-on-one instruction, align lessons with TEKS standards, and adapt pacing for individual student needs from your home.

You can set your schedule, earn competitive hourly rates, and be paid twice per week. The platform includes AI-assisted tools to support instruction and efficient planning.

Qualifications

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate required.
• Deep knowledge of K-12 TEKS standards and how to apply them in instruction.
• Experience teaching in a Texas classroom setting or TEKS-aligned teaching.
• Ability to diagnose student gaps and adjust pacing and approach.

What We Look For In a Texas Certified Teacher Tutor

• Active Texas Teaching Certificate (Required): Must hold a current, active teaching certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). You will be asked to provide your certificate number during the application process for verification at tealprod.tea.state.tx.us.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge in your certified subject area(s), with the ability to connect K-12 curriculum concepts to student needs across grade levels and learning goals.
• Classroom Teaching Experience: Demonstrated experience in a Texas classroom setting, with a strong understanding of TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) standards and how to apply them in one‑on‑one instruction.
• Conceptual Teaching &Adaptive Instruction: Skilled at diagnosing student gaps, adjusting pacing and approach, and explaining concepts through multiple methods to meet each student where they are.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
