Goodwill Central Texas seeks an English Teacher for The Excel Center Adult High School in Texas. The role focuses on delivering English instruction aligned to TEKS and the Excel Center curriculum, using a student-centered approach tailored to adult learners.

You will work with an instructional team to meet educational objectives and ensure strong graduate outcomes in a charter school setting. A bachelor’s in education is preferred, with experience in blended and online learning environments.

Important Retirement Information

The Goodwill Excel Center for Adults is a Texas public charter school district. Employees in TRS-eligible positions participate in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS).

Eligible employees are required to contribute a portion of their salary to TRS retirement and TRS-Care through automatic payroll deductions. TRS is a defined-benefit retirement system, and employees generally become vested after earning five years of TRS service credit.

Role

The primary role of the English Teacher is to implement, develop, and execute instruction of the Goodwill Excel Center English curriculum. The English Teacher will employ a student-centered approach, effectively tailoring the instructional strategies to the individual students’ needs and approaching instruction with creativity and innovation. Strategies may include but are not limited to direct instruction, one-on-one instruction, seminars, small group learning, self-paced lessons, blended learning and courses, and online learning tools. The English Teacher will work with the instructional team in meeting the educational objectives and adhering to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards.

• Provide instruction to students in the area of English Courses (Primarily English 1-4; Some Electives) that ensures mastery of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
