Job summary

Great Hearts Academies is seeking an English Language Learner Coordinator to support ESL students across Invictus Lower and Upper Schools in Texas. The role focuses on ESL strategies, state assessment prep, and collaboration with faculty to promote student achievement.

The coordinator will manage bilingual/ESL processes, develop curriculum, and advise staff on appropriate coursework while ensuring LPAC compliance and state reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required.
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification is required.
  • Valid Texas Bilingual Endorsement or ESL supplemental certification is required.
  • Two or more years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience as an ESL teacher or coordinator preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate bilingual/ESL students identification and data reviews at all grade levels.
  • Develop and revise bilingual/ESL curriculum as needed.
  • Assist teachers with curriculum modification and appropriate coursework for ESL students.
  • Develop ongoing evaluation of bilingual and ESL programs and implement changes.
  • Provide resources and plan parent meetings and advisory committee meetings.
  • Compile budgets and assist with equipment/supplies procurement.
  • Train staff and oversee LPAC meetings and paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal policies and reporting requirements.

ESL at Great Hearts:

At Great Hearts, our English as a Second Language Teachers and Coordinators are integral members of our faculty andparticipatein all faculty-wide events and professional development. Their specializedexpertiseprovides English learnersassistancewith grade-level curriculum using ESL strategies, enabling students to become academically successful. Great Hearts aims to serve all students including English learners in a manner that affirms and reflects their dignity and rightful participation within the larger student body and academy. Through smallgroupand one-to-one support, the ESL team provides essential support throughout the school year and with annual state assessment preparation. Through the state mandated Language Proficiency Assessment Committee identification,monitoringand reclassification processes, ESL Coordinators and Teachers support all English learners at Great Hearts as they develop their academic English language toproficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Program Coordination

  • Implement procedures and coordinate the process toidentifybilingual/ESL students at all grade levels, including review of student data and testing of students.
  • Develop and revise bilingual and ESL curriculum as needed.
  • Assistteachers to develop and provide bilingual and ESL students with appropriatecourse workthrough curriculum modification, accelerations, etc.
  • Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the bilingual and ESL programs and implement changes based on the findings.

Consultation

  • Provide resources and materials to support staff in accomplishing program goals.
  • Consult with parents, administrators, counselors, teachers, community agencies, and other relevant individualsregardingbilingual and ESL students.
  • Plan and conduct parent meetings, including parent advisory committee meetings.

Budget and Inventory

  • Compile budget and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
  • Assistwith theselectionandpurchaseof supplemental equipment and supplies for the program.

Policy, Reports, and Law

  • Compile,maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
  • Train campus personnel and oversee LPAC meetings and paperwork.
  • Comply withpoliciesestablishedby federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited universityrequired
  • Valid/Current Texas Teacher Certificationrequired
  • Valid Texas Bilingual Endorsement or ESLSupplemental and Generalist/Core Content Area Certification that covers grade levels assigned isrequired
**Experience:**
  • Two or more years of teaching experiencepreferred.
  • Experience as an ESL teacher or coordinator preferred.
**Additional Requirements: **
  • Type of fingerprint clearance: Mustpossessor obtain valid Texas fingerprint clearance card.
  • Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May berequiredto move or position equipment up to 15pounds approximately.
  • Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various academies within the metro area.
