Job summary

The role reports to the Dean of General Education, offers a mid‑$60K salary depending on education, experience, and qualifications, and allows telework one day per week after six months. A master’s degree in English is required with teaching experience and Georgia state benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English or master’s with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in English and appropriate course content from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Must work well in the classroom and in supervising diverse students in a variety of settings.

Responsibilities

• Develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives.
• Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited English courses.
• Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
• Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares required budget requests.
• Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
• Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the classroom.
• Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.
• Assists with student recruitment and retention as appropriate.
• Manages administrative responsibilities related to scheduling, developing syllabi and teaching courses.
• Other duties as assigned by Dean.
