# Engineering Test Technician - TemporaryScotts Valley, CA 95066## OverviewSalary Range$30.00 - $35.00 Hourly## Temporary Engineering Test TechnicianDigital Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a hands-on **Temporary Engineering Test Technician** to support our engineering teams with product verification, validation, troubleshooting, and test execution. This position will help reduce the amount of routine test work currently being performed by engineers, allowing engineers to focus on design, analysis, and complex technical problem-solving.This is **not a production testing position**. The role is focused on supporting engineering development activities, including testing prototypes, engineering builds, new product designs, design changes, and product issues under investigation.The ideal candidate is comfortable working with electronic and electromechanical equipment, following detailed test procedures, documenting results, and communicating unexpected findings to engineers.This is a temporary position intended to provide additional engineering test capacity based on current project and workload requirements. The duration and schedule of the assignment may be adjusted based on business needs.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities*** Set up and execute engineering test procedures for prototypes, development units, engineering builds, and design changes.* Perform functional, electrical, environmental, reliability, regression, and system-level testing as directed by engineering.* Configure test equipment, fixtures, cables, hardware, software, and supporting instrumentation.* Operate common electronic test equipment, such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, and data-acquisition equipment.* Record test conditions, configurations, measurements, observations, and results accurately.* Identify and clearly document test failures, unexpected behavior, intermittent issues, and deviations from expected results.* Assist engineers with troubleshooting by reproducing failures, collecting data, swapping components, and performing controlled test variations.* Support the development, improvement, and verification of engineering test procedures and test fixtures.* Maintain organized test logs, photographs, data files, configurations, and supporting documentation.* Track test status and communicate progress, issues, and resource needs to the assigned engineer or manager.* Handle prototypes, customer equipment, and engineering materials carefully and in accordance with applicable safety and ESD requirements.* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized engineering test environment.* Perform other engineering test support activities as assigned.**Qualifications*** Associate degree, technical certificate, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience in electronics, engineering technology, mechatronics, or a related field.* At least one year of experience working with electronic, electrical, electromechanical, or embedded-system products preferred.* Ability to read and follow test procedures, work instructions, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.* Experience using electronic test and measurement equipment.* Strong attention to detail and ability to document test results accurately.* Ability to recognize when test results are inconsistent, incomplete, or outside expected parameters.* Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and file-management systems.* Ability to work independently after receiving direction while knowing when to stop and escalate a technical issue.* Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.**Preferred Qualifications*** Experience supporting engineering verification, design validation, reliability testing, or failure analysis.* Experience testing embedded systems, industrial controls, communication interfaces, power electronics, or electromechanical products.* Familiarity with serial communications, Ethernet, CAN, EtherCAT, or similar industrial communication protocols.* Experience with test automation, scripting, LabVIEW, Python, or other data-collection tools.* Experience assembling or modifying cables, fixtures, test setups, or prototype hardware.* Familiarity with ESD controls and safe laboratory practices.**Success Measures*** Engineering tests are completed accurately and on schedule.* Test configurations, conditions, and results are fully documented.* Failures and unexpected results are escalated promptly.* Test results can be reliably reproduced and reviewed by engineering.* Engineers spend less time performing routine test setup, execution, and data collection.* Test equipment, prototypes, and engineering workspaces are maintained safely and properly.**Physical Requirements*** Ability to work at a test bench or computer for extended periods.* Ability to handle small components, cables, fixtures, and electronic assemblies.* Ability to lift and move test equipment or products weighing up to 30 pounds, with assistance when appropriate.* Ability to use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow laboratory, electrical, and ESD safety requirements.
