Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for an Engineering Technologist II with our large power and utilities client in St. Petersburg, FL. This is a 3-year contract with a potential for extension.

Pay:

$33.00 - $38.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.

Description:

We are seeking an Engineering Technologist II to support electric transmission operations and related technical activities. This role will assist with reviewing work requests, interpreting technical information, identifying system boundaries, and supporting the coordination of transmission-related work.

The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of electric utility or transmission systems, strong attention to detail, and the ability to learn new processes and systems. Extensive experience is not required, but candidates should be familiar with basic electrical equipment and concepts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and support technical work requests associated with transmission system activities.
• Interpret technical information, diagrams, and system data to identify equipment and work boundaries.
• Review scopes of work and ensure information aligns with the requested work activities.
• Support the coordination and documentation of transmission-related work.
• Prepare and distribute operational notifications and other required communications.
• Identify discrepancies or potential issues and work with appropriate team members to resolve them.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records related to assigned work.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support safe and effective execution of work.
• Learn and utilize internal systems, processes, and procedures.
• Perform additional technical and administrative support activities as needed.

Qualifications:

• Previous utility, electrical, engineering, or related technical experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of electrical equipment such as breakers, transmission lines, and transformers.
• General understanding of electrical or transmission system concepts.
• Ability to read and interpret technical information and understand defined scopes of work.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn new technical systems and processes.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience within the electric utility industry.
• Exposure to transmission operations or related engineering functions.
• Familiarity with technical or operational software systems.
