THOR Solutions, LLC is actively seeking an Engineering Technician VI (Diesels) to provide full-time support for U.S. Naval shipboard auxiliary equipment at SWRMC in San Diego, CA. The role involves troubleshooting, maintenance, and training Ship's Force to improve fleet readiness.

The position requires US citizenship, existing SECRET clearance, and at least 10 years of relevant naval diesel experience. Travel up to 10% may be required; pay includes a base hourly rate plus health/welfare benefits

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED equivalent.
• At least ten (10) years of relevant experience within the last fifteen (15) years in the operation, repair, maintenance and assessment of U.S. Naval Diesel Engines and their support systems equipment.
• Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and label them for report purposes.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

Responsibilities

• Provide Full-Time Onsite Support and surge support for Code 264 cognizant equipment.
• Perform Diesel Engine Routine Inspections, Ready-to-Start Inspections, Post-Repair Inspections and FPAs per references.
• Conduct Assessments, Inspections, and Grooms to determine equipment condition and adjust as needed.
• Provide Onboard Maintenance Training to Ship's Force technicians; support TSRA, INSURV and Tech Assist events.
• Analyze inspection data to determine fault sources and recommend corrective action.
• Report findings to Team Leader/Branch Head within two working days.

is actively seeking an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN VI (Diesels) with U.S. Navy shipboard experience to provide full-time support for U.S. Naval shipboard auxiliary equipment at the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) in San Diego, CA.

In this role, you will be part of a waterfront team that provides direct engineering and technical support to the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet, helping keep shipboard systems reliable and mission-ready. Working alongside Navy personnel aboard ships and at regional maintenance facilities, you will apply your technical expertise to troubleshoot equipment, support maintenance and assessments, and train Ship's Force to improve Fleet self-sufficiency and readiness. This is an opportunity to contribute to a high-impact mission that directly supports the safety and combat readiness of our Fleet.

This position is contingent upon contract award, anticipated for February 2027.

Typical Responsibilities

The candidate’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following actions:

• Provide Full-Time Onsite Support as well as Surge Support as tasked for the following Code 264 cognizant equipment.
• Perform Diesel Engine Routine Inspections, Ready-to-Start Inspections, Post-Repair Inspections and Formal Periodic Assessments (FPAs) in accordance with references 2.4, 3.7.4.5.1, and 3.7.4.5.2 (JFMM volume four (4), chapter four (4)), OPNAV Instruction 9220.3, and the U.S. Navy Diesel Engine Inspector Handbook S9233- CJHBK-010Plan) for all ships, submarines and aircraft carriers within SWRMC’s AOR.
• Conduct Assessments, Inspections, and Grooms determining equipment condition and out of specification settings; observe operation of the equipment by ship's force to witness the full range of performance, when possible; utilize appropriate measuring equipment to obtain data for evaluation; evaluate findings and make adjustments and repairs to the maximum extent possible during the time available.
• Provide Onboard Maintenance Training (OBMT) to Ship's Force technicians in the operation, repair, and maintenance. The contractor shall perform/provide support during shipboard gas turbine systems tasking including TSRA, INSURV and Tech Assist events.
• Analyze and review inspection data to determine source of fault, and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
• Report findings/discrepancies as required to the designated Team Leader and/or Branch Head of Code 264 via Material Assessment Form (MAF), Prisms/ETC Software, TAAS-Info, debrief and/or Technical Assistance Visit Report (TAVR) within two working days of completion of task.

Location

Full time onsite at the SWRMC in San Diego, CA.

Typical Physical Activity

Mix of desk/computer work in an office environment and visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g. confined spaces, ladders, hatches), or vision..

Anticipated Travel

This position involves up to 10% travel, including travel to overseas/OCONUS locations.

Typical Pay Range

The anticipated pay for this position in the identified location(s) is $48.13/hour. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience. This position is covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA) and will additionally receive $5.09/hour in "health and welfare" benefits.

Existing SECRET Security Clearance Required

This position requires an existing active or interim Secret security clearance prior to hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance; therefore, only current U.S. citizens will be considered for this position. A candidate without a clearance but with highly relevant experience may be considered, but still must obtain a clearance prior to hire.

Required Certifications/Trainings or ability to obtain within 2 years of providing direct support
