Job summary

Zero Carbon Systems seeks an Engineering Technician to support the mechanical engineering team, turning drawings into working hardware. You’ll assemble and test pneumatic/hydraulic rigs, fabricate parts, and help run tests for direct air capture technology.

This hands-on role involves fabrication bench work, 3D printing, and live test rigs on site in Brighton, CO. You will read drawings and PFDs/P&IDs, improve build processes, and maintain documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or related field with 3+ years hands-on experience.
• 10+ years in an R&D, prototype, or fabrication environment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, PFDs and P&IDs.
• Experience assembling fluid systems and stainless steel tubing fabrication.
• Experience building, assembling, or maintaining pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
• Experience producing parts on FDM 3D printers and post-processing.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; work methodically to root cause.
• Ability to work independently and in a small, fast-moving team; good communication.

Responsibilities

• Assemble test rigs, sub-systems, and prototypes from drawings, PFDs, P&IDs, and CAD models.
• Build/modify pneumatic and hydraulic test rigs from 10 to 200 psi; leak-check circuits.
• Fabricate stainless steel tubing assemblies with fittings to leak-tight standards.
• Fabricate custom parts and fixtures with hand/power tools and machine tools.
• Produce parts on FDM 3D printers; slice models, print, post-process, assemble.
• Troubleshoot rigs to isolate leaks, instrumentation faults, and mechanical issues; perform repairs.
• Support test campaigns by wiring instrumentation, collecting data, and recording configurations.
• Identify design/maintainability issues with engineers and propose improvements.
• Maintain shop equipment and inventories; enforce safety procedures.
