Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to provide support to our Armament Systems Business site located in Plymouth, MN.

Armament Systems

Specializes in the development and production of medium and large‑caliber ammunition as well as precision capabilities for direct and indirect fire systems. Leading the industry, this team successfully completes lifecycle support for medium caliber cannons, develops miniature, precision strike weapons for airborne platforms, creates survivability solutions for soldiers and the next generation tactical ammunition for a variety of combat platforms.

Position Description

This position provides technical support to engineers on a variety of tasks related to the manufacture of medium caliber ammunition. In general, this role will provide support in terms of creating and maintaining engineering documentation and reports, performing general data analysis and mathematical calculations using established formulas, supporting the process of Change Notices, Engineering Change Proposals and Requests for Variance, assisting in Technical Data Package reviews and maintenance, and supporting the generation, release and delivery of Contract Data Requirements Listings to our customers.

Please note this position may be filled as an Engineering Technician level 2 or level 3 depending on the candidate’s education and/or years of experience.

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of additional education or related experience providing technical support
  • Experience writing, revising, and updating documentation including technical reports and work instructions.
  • Experience simplifying technical jargon into clear, concise, and plain language suitable for the target audience.
  • Ability to approach documentation from the perspective of a non‑technical end‑user.
  • Experience creating visuals such as diagrams, graphs, flowcharts, screenshots, and videos to illustrate technical procedures and test outcomes.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing user feedback to improve documentation quality.
  • Strong, demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong command of grammar and the ability to produce clear, concise content.
  • Demonstrated organizational and multi‑tasking skills. Attention to detail and accuracy are a must.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • Time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Experience in the Defense or Aerospace Industry
  • Familiarity with PLM/ERP systems
  • Technical writing experience for an engineering organization
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings
  • Ability to gather information by interviewing subject matter experts, reading technical specifications, and reviewing drawings to understand complex subjects
  • Experience reviewing and editing content prepared by other staff to ensure accuracy and adherence to style guides
  • Experience using version control tools

Primary Level Salary Range: $53,500.00 - $89,100.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $63,500.00 - $105,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
