Full Time Manual Labor Field WA-2, Keyport, WA, US

Salary Range: $20.79 To $39.55 Hourly

The Engineering Technician II performs standardized mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical maintenance assignments supporting heavyweight and lightweight torpedo operations. The position follows approved work instructions, procedures, shop documentation, and established work methods to disassemble, clean, inspect, assemble, adjust, test, troubleshoot, and repair torpedo components and associated support equipment.

Recurring assignments are performed with limited supervision, while unfamiliar or non-routine tasks require explicit instructions and may be reviewed while in progress. Work is documented using paper and electronic process-control systems, including the Automated Process Control System, Heavyweight Torpedo Technical Data System, and Shop Workload Management System.

The position may also support component preparation for storage, ranging, fleet issue, material movement, repair-parts requests, and Progressive Depot Level Repair activities when trained and qualified.

A sample of duties this position will perform includes but is not limited to:

  • Maintenance and Repair of Torpedo Components (Disassembly, Assembly, and Repair)

  • Maintaining Records and Processing Documentation and Production Support
  • Performs and Ensures all Safety, Quality, and Material Handling
Education
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Technical, vocational, military, mechanical, electrical, or industrial-maintenance training preferred.
Experience
Strongly Preferred:
  • Minimum of two years of experience supporting industrial operations.
  • Experience assembling, servicing, repairing, or testing mechanical or electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Experience following controlled procedures, work instructions, shop orders, or technical documentation.
  • Experience using hand tools, measuring devices, test equipment, or production systems.
  • Torpedo, ordnance, depot-maintenance, military, manufacturing, or Government industrial experience preferred.
License, Cert or Registration
Required:
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the security-clearance and Government-access requirements of the position.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the personnel security eligibility required for assigned work, up to a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Required MHE, equipment, process, and safety qualifications must be obtained and maintained.
  • Ordnance Qualification/Certification required for each assigned device or family group.
  • Full medical certification, including an ordnance physical.
  • Enrollment in the contractor-managed random drug-testing program
Preferred:
  • Licensed and certified to operate a 6,000-pound electric forklift, diesel forklift, and CAT III overhead crane.
  • Lockout/tagout training required for assigned equipment-maintenance duties.
  • Ammunition and Explosives Handler medical certification required when interacting with AE.
  • Explosives Vehicle Operator medical certification required when assigned to operate applicable vehicles.
  • Asbestos, HAZMAT, respiratory-protection, and remediation training required when assigned to those activities.
Special knowledge, skills, & abilities
  • Ability to manually lift up to 75 pounds may be required with this position.
  • Ability and experience to operate pallet jack and Big Joe stand-behind pallet lift mechanism.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery and industrial tools with limited to no supervision.
  • Ability to perform standardized technical assignments from approved instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assembly and repair.
  • Ability to use common hand tools, fixtures, measuring devices, and test equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow drawings, procedures, shop documentation, and process-control instructions.
  • Ability to recognize unfamiliar conditions requiring lead, engineering, or Government direction.
