Job summary

City of Lincoln & Lancaster County is seeking a hands-on County Engineering Department professional to perform advanced surveying for complex construction projects, draft and review surveys and plans, and help ensure work is built right from plans to final inspection.

This full-time, on-site position requires the ability to work with minimal supervision, operate CAD tools, conduct property research, coordinate with contractors and the public, and guide crew members on assigned projects in varied

Qualifications

• Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent with related drafting/surveying/engineering experience.
• Ability to read plans, maps and legal descriptions.
• Strong math skills relevant to surveying, drafting and construction.
• Experience with drafting, mapping and computer-based systems.
• Proficient in surveying, inspection and testing equipment.

Join the County Engineering Department in a hands‑on, advanced technical role supporting complex engineering and construction projects. You’ll work with minimal supervision, apply strong surveying and drafting skills, and help ensure projects are built right—from plans to final inspection.

Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements:

Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent and some experience performing drafting, surveying, and/or engineering work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.

Necessary Special Requirement:

Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured by the County’s insurance carrier.

Hours: FULL TIME; 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position could require working overtime including working the same hours as the contractor which could include some weekends and holidays.
