The Engineering Technician I is an entry-level position focused on utilizing technology and modeling software to support the development of detailed drawings and plans for public works and infrastructure projects. Under the supervision of an Engineer or Designer, this role involves preparing charts, forms, and records, as well as performing drawing revisions as needed. The Technician contributes to small-scale, moderately complex projects, gaining valuable experience in technical documentation and project design support.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
· You earned a high school diploma
· You have basic level experience with 2D and 3D BIM programs
· You have exceptional interpersonal skills over the phone, in person and via email with clients, consultants and internal teams
· You have a foundational knowledge of construction methods and materials
· You’re familiar with most governing codes and standards
CORE DUTIES
· You take direction from a team leader to produce technical drawings and reports
· Maintain your focus on functional skill development, learning your craft
· Create, update and maintain project models, incorporating accurate field conditions
· Perform redline drafting, copy and print project drawings as requested
· Participate in conceptual design activities under the direction of an Engineer/Manager
· Create 2D and 3D architectural drawings under the purview of a seasoned engineer or designer
· Participate in product research, evaluation and selection of appropriate resources and tools
· Interface with Technology Services team to coordinate data collection and management

The rate for this position generally ranges between $21- 32 hourly. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employees already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law.
