This posting will be used to fill an Engineering Technician I position within Division 14 Roadside Environmental Unit. Position will serve as a regional project inspector for various contract vegetation management operations and other Roadside Environmental functions. Employee will perform duties in Henderson, Transylvania, and Polk Counties and in any other locations as required throughout Division 14. The contract operations to be inspected include; but are not limited to, shoulder mowing, contour mowing, specialized mowing and hand trimming, mulch application, plant bed maintenance, litter removal, and contract rest area maintenance. Employee will be emergency contact for I-26 Rest Area in Polk County. Employee will assist Division Roadside Engineer with Selective Vegetation Removal site reviews and compliance inspections as well as provide field measurements necessary to determine contract quantities. As needed, employee will also inspect contract snow & ice removal as well as any other emergency operations. Employee must be able to work in outdoor environments and in all weather conditions and must be able to work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays as necessary to fulfill inspection needs. Safety toe shoes required.

Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline
