SAIC is seeking a Junior Engineering Technician to join our teams in Norfolk, VA and San Diego, CA. All positions require onsite support and an active Secret clearance to begin work.
The role includes troubleshooting ALRE systems, reviewing maintenance publications, evaluating equipment conditions, and identifying deficiencies to restore systems to operational status. You will assist with installation, repair, calibration, and testing of ALRE equipment, provide on-the-job training to Ships
SAIC is currently seeking an Engineering Technician to join our teams in Norfolk, VA and San Diego, CA. All positions require onsite support (no remote) and an active Secret clearance to begin work.
Candidate shall provide fleet technical services and troubleshooting of Aviation Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) systems at shore sites and aboard ships:
Troubleshooting of ALRE Systems and Subsystems
Review and interpret applicable maintenance technical publications
Evaluate current equipment conditions
Identify, isolate, and correct part deficiencies to restore systems to optimal operational capability
Technical Expertise and System Support
Assist with the installation, repair, calibration, and testing of ALRE equipment
Provide on the job training to Ships Force
Certification and Inspection Readiness
Assist with the certification and inspection of ALRE equipment
Ensure all equipment and processes are strictly in accordance with Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) certification and inspection requirements
Overhaul and Repair Monitoring
Monitor, track, and report on the repair and overhaul progress of ALRE systems
Provide oversight across multiple performing entities, including shipyards, field locations, Voyage Repair Teams (VRT), and Fleet Readiness Centers (FRC)
Technical Reports
The contractor shall assist with the preparation and submission of technical reports documenting the completion of all technical assistance, troubleshooting, or support activities. These reports shall detail certifications and inspections performed, problems identified, actions taken, parts replaced or corrected, and final operational status of the equipment
High school diploma and 2+ years of experience; AA degree in related discipline
Experience with ship installed systems, Aviation operations and diagnostics
Experience troubleshooting ship board systems
Security Clearance is required with Interim Secret clearance required to start
Travel up to 40% may be required
Familiarization with Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) for trace analysis and fault location, Optical Loss Test Sets (OLTS) for power measurement, and Visual Fault Locators (VFLs) to spot physical breaks
Knowledge of Aircraft Launch and Recovery Systems and Aviation Support Equipment
Engineering Degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree
Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
