Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks an Engineering Technician with a strong background in quality assurance to support Mission Assurance and QA teams. You will interface with inspectors and operations personnel, drive root cause analyses, and help ensure compliance with FAR, AS9100, and related standards.

The role involves coordinating audits, managing nonconformances, improving QMS processes, and supporting investigations. A US citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Engineering Technician 4 or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years combined education and/or related work experience in quality management systems including ISO9001/AS9100 support.
  • Ability to read engineering documentation (drawings, specs) and develop inspection plans to ensure design conformance.
  • Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with enterprise systems such as TIPQA, Cost Point, TCUA.
  • Knowledge of RCA tools (Ishikawa, FMEA, DOE, 5Why) and experience with corrective actions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; detail oriented and proactive.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality and technical support for compliance with program, quality, and industry requirements.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and improve quality policies and procedures within the QMS; perform internal audits.
  • Interface with technical, quality, and operations personnel to communicate inspection results.
  • Interpret technical requirements and guide inspection activities across engineering and design teams.
  • Evaluate non-conformances and manage corrective/preventive actions until closure.
  • Lead RCCA activities and maintain related documentation.
  • Coordinate first article inspections withQuality engineering, manufacturing and inspection teams.
  • Support housekeeping and compliance with Foreign Object Damage control.
  • Contribute to safety, process improvements, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Assist investigations and special analyses as needed.

Job Summary

Provide broad support to the Mission Assurance Engineering and Quality Assurance departments within Mission Assurance and facilitate compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), AS9100, other statutory and regulatory requirements and program specific requirements. On a daily basis, this person will interface with inspectors and operators as a liaison with the Mission Assurance Engineering and audit groups, help resolve Quality/Production issues, conduct and coordinate internal audits, manage Nonconformance and Corrective Action efforts and support internal improvement activities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide direct quality and technical support on a variety of technical tasks in support of compliance to program, quality, organizational, and industry requirements
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance and improvement of quality policy and procedures within the Quality Management System (QMS) including performing internal audits to assess conformance, supporting external audits, and managing corrective/preventive action
  • Interface with various levels of technical, quality and operations personnel to ensure their understanding of inspection results, including reports of anomalies
  • Interpret technical and quality requirements and provide inspection method guidance to engineering, design and inspection personnel
  • Evaluate non-conformances, prepare non-conformance reports and maintain documentation through resolution and closure
  • Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) analysis and maintain documentation through implementation and closure
  • Coordinate First article inspections with Quality engineering, manufacturing, and inspection personnel including planning, monitoring, records, and analysis
  • Support daily housekeeping of manufacturing and inspection areas, equipment and processes to comply with Foreign Object Damage control requirements
  • Facilitate and implement cost reduction and process improvement activities
  • Provide support for investigations and special analysis assignments
  • Lead and adhere to safety standards and procedures
Basic Qualifications
  • Engineering Technician 4: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of a combined 6 years of continuing education in a related field and/or directly related work experience with quality management systems in an aerospace, mechanical, electrical, and/or propulsion field including support for ISO9001 and/or AS9100 compliance and monitoring
  • Able to read engineering documentation (drawings, models, specs), interpret drawing dimensions, features, and parts lists, develop inspection plans, identify critical features, and choose the appropriate physical inspection methods and equipment to determine compliance of items to design requirements
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to understand and work within multiple enterprise-wide systems (TIPQA, Cost Point and TCUA)
  • Knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action tools, such as Ishikawa, FMEA, DOE, KTA (Kepner Tregoe Analysis), 5Why, etc
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Positive individual with strong attention to detail and accuracy who is willing to expand current skill set through schooling and training
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently through technical problems towards an implementable solution as well as work well in a team environment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a dynamic, fast paced, diverse environment
  • Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Accredited certification in Quality and/or Mission assurance field
  • Familiarity with key materials, technologies and/or processes such as machining, welding, CT scanning, additive manufacturing, non-destructive testing, laser/light inspection techniques, and chemical processing
  • Demonstrated process control and improvement experience and knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or similar tools
  • Active Secret DoD Security clearance
Salary & Benefits
  • Primary Level Salary Range: $75,500.00 - $125,900.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
  • Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
