Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Engineering Technician 3/4 to join the Integrated Product Team at Palmdale, CA or Edwards AFB, CA. This on-site role involves building, integrating, testing and maintaining communications hardware across varying rack configurations in lab and field settings.

The position requires an active US Government clearance, strong interpretation of engineering drawings, and experience with harness assemblies.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to interpret engineering drawings per ASME/IEEE standards.
  • Experience building/ installing custom harness assemblies.
  • Comfort with moving up to 50 lbs and identifying cable colors.

Responsibilities

  • Build systems from engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Support startup/shutdown procedures, ATP/Delivery, and post-delivery support.
  • Assemble and install custom cables and wire harnesses per diagrams.
  • Produce engineering documentation and schematics.
  • Perform calculations and data analysis within guidelines.
  • Work full-time on-site with up to 25% travel (up to 40% surge).

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Engineering Technician 3/4 to join the team of qualified individuals on our Integrated Product Team. This (leadership) role is located onsite in Palmdale, CA or Edwards AFB, CA.

This exciting position will offer the opportunity to work within a technical team responsible for the building, integration, test and maintenance of communications hardware in laboratory and field settings ranging in complexity from single rack of equipment to 10+ racks and will provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build systems using engineering drawings, configuration & recovery documentation,
  • Support startup & shutdown procedures, ATP/Delivery, as well as post-delivery support.
  • Support the build and installation of custom cables and wire harness assemblies as well as tray assemblies from engineering drawings and interconnect diagrams.
  • Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics),
  • Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas, conducting preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
  • The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 25% may be required with occasional surge travel periods of up to 40%.

Basic Qualifications For Level 3
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent AND 4 years of related professional/military experience.
Basic Qualifications For Level 4
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent AND 6 years of related professional/military experience.
Basic Qualifications For Both Level 3 And 4
  • Must have an active US Government clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
  • Note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings in accordance with ASME and IEEE standards, including rack assembly drawings, interconnect wiring diagrams and custom cable assemblies.
  • Working experience building and installing custom harness assemblies in accordance with industry standards.
  • Working experience with industry standards for connectors including, but not limited to D38999, Dsub, twinax, RJ45, etc.
  • Must be physically able to move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have color vision to identify cables and wires.
  • Candidate must have strong communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude to learn new material quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with investigation date within the last 5 years, ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Programs (SAP) and a DOD Top Secret Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $66,600.00 - $111,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $79,100.00 - $131,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
