Job summary

The City of Pasco is seeking an Engineering Technician II to support capital improvement and public works projects. Responsibilities include design assistance, drafting, field inspections, data collection, and contract administration.

Ideal candidates have 2 years of civil engineering or construction inspection experience, strong CADD and GIS skills, and the ability to work independently and with teams. A conditional offer requires a background check and WA driver license.

  • Valid Washington State driver license.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of capital improvement and public works projects.

  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, inspectors, and other departments to ensure timely, cost-effective project execution.
  • Operate in office and outdoor environments with adherence to safety requirements.

Summary Of Position

Location: City of Pasco, WA (On-Site)

Salary: $43.63 - $52.38 Hourly; Depending on qualifications

Job Type: Regular Full-Time

Union Status: Non-union

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (alternative schedules available upon management approval)

Closing Date: Open until filled. First review August 12th, 2026

The Role

As an Engineering Technician II, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of capital improvement and public works projects throughout the city. You will assist with project design, drafting, field investigations, inspection, data collection, and contract administration.

The ideal candidate for this role will have 2 years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering or construction inspection, strong CADD and GIS skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, inspectors, and other departments to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project execution. A background check and valid Washington State driver license are required upon acceptance of a conditional offer.

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in civil engineering or closely related field
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering, construction inspection, or a closely related field
  • Valid Washington State driver license
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CADD, and GIS applications
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Experience with public works projects in a municipal environment
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

The City offers a full benefits package for the employee and all eligible dependents covered at low premiums including:

  • Medical coverage is available at tiered monthly rates based on plan selection and coverage level. Dental coverage is available at $11.59/month and vision coverage at $6.54/month.
  • Basic life insurance paid for by the City and employee sponsored supplemental life insurance
  • 12 days of vacation during the 1st year of employment and 12 days of sick leave which are available for use upon accrual
  • 10 paid holidays, plus 1 floating holiday each year

Safety/Work Conditions
  • Work performed both in office and outdoor environments
  • Exposure to noise, traffic, weather, heavy equipment, confined spaces, and construction zones
  • May include climbing, kneeling, crouching, and driving City vehicles
  • Post-offer, pre-employment background check and drug screen required
