Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. — Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a technical specialist to support engineers by gathering, maintaining, formatting, and manipulating technical data such as laboratory results and engineering design changes.
You will produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings, and schematics. The role requires performing detailed calculations with established formulas and contributing to analyses and documentation.

Salary Range: $54,000.00 to $68,000.00

Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
Requires considerable knowledge of the job. Substantial acquaintance with and understanding of general aspects of the job with a broad understanding of the detailed aspects of the job.
Direct general supervision. Routine work performed with detailed instructions for new activities or special assignments. Duties & tasks are varied but standardized. Performs some more advanced functions. Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers more complex questions to higher levels.
Contacts are typically with individuals within own department and occasionally with contacts outside own organization. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data requiring some explanation or interpretation.
Associate's Degree and 1 year of relevant experience.
