Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 5+ years related production experience.
• Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred.
• Laser Interferometry Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prototype machine prototyping, tool design and build, and test plan development.
• Define motion profiles with customers and integrate, program, test systems.
• Design/review electronics for prototypes and production, including boards and cables.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and specs.
• Maintain documentation and test reports; ensure cleanliness of work area.
• Collaborate with supervision on progress and continuous improvement data.

Job description

The Engineering Technician position is responsible for successful completion of prototype system builds collaborating with the mechanical design and production teams. This position must be able to implement solutions and solve complex electromechanical problems, as well as tune and program controllers and drives for full system solutions and builds.

This is accomplished through the following essential functions:

• New product introduction duties include machine prototyping, tool design and build, test plan development and system assembly documentation.
• Systems and Controls duties include working with customers to define motion profile, specifying systems and components to meet those requirements, integrating, programming, and testing.
• Electronics duties include design and/or review of electronics for prototypes and production systems, circuit boards, and cables.
• Interpret and work from engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications
• Maintain constant communication with supervisor about job progress.
• Collect and analyze production data to support continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate documentation, including processes used in building and assembling products with detailed instructions, test reports, and process records
• Clean and maintain cleanliness of work area.
• Complete other tasks as assigned.

Work Experience & Knowledge Requirements

• Experience with Servo control systems.
• Experience with Stepper control systems.
• Experience with ISO Standards and Practices is preferred.
• Background in prototyping
• Ability to read schematics, BOM’s, Processes and test documentation
• Experience using CAD, Solidworks, CAM, data analysis programs and/or related software is preferred
• Experience and proficiency with MS Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Education Requirements

• Completion of a High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or five (5) or more years’ related production experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related field is strongly preferred.
• Laser Interferometry Certification is strongly preferred.
