Job summary

U.S. Facilities, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Support Position to assist a Southeast Virginia project. You will prepare plan sheets, gather data, and support the signal shop operations while driving to remote sites as needed.

The role requires strong data entry, independent work, effective written and oral communication, and familiarity with maintenance data systems. A high school diploma is required; VDOT-related training may be provided.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Operations Maintenance principles such as data collection, pavement markings, markers and messages, traffic signs and guardrail.
  • Ability to enter timely and accurate data into automated systems.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Skill in the use of computers and software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assemble plan sheets, task orders, and data sets to support the operations of the signal shop.
  • Perform field review of work plans, including driving a state-owned vehicle to remote sites to meet with maintenance personnel who will facilitate equipment access.
  • Document site conditions and validate work plans based on field review.
  • Assemble models for timing of signals (approx. 189 signals in the assigned area).
  • Reconcile work plans and data sets with signals team/ management input.
  • Perform focused, accurate data management and entry for prolonged periods.
  • Carefully access critical information systems and networks controlling physical roadway infrastructure and electronic assets.
  • Other necessary duties to meet work plan goals.
  • Any other duties as assigned by a supervisor and/or USF Senior Project Manager.

U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service company, is seeking an Engineering Support Position to work on one of our projects in Southeast Virginia. This is to be accomplished on a routine basis as outlined in the following responsibilities:

Work Conditions:
  • 90-day probation period.
  • Flexible schedule (relates to a 24/7/365 operating environment).
  • Required VDOT/Industry training.
  • Significant all-season/all-hour operating conditions.
  • May be subject to short or no-notice work assignments.
  • Work may occur outside along interstate highways requiring necessary safety. precautions involved in working with electricity in and alongside traffic.
  • Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment subject to short or no-notice work assignments and exposure to inclement weather.
  • Work environment is informal, both team and autonomy oriented, having routine tasks with variable pace and pressure.
  • Weekend, evening, and overtime work may be required. Standing for prolonged periods of time, walking, lifting, carrying; frequently reaching, kneeling, climbing, bending, twisting, crouching, and balancing can be expected.
  • Monitored performance with routine evaluation.
Pre-employment Requirements:
  • A fingerprint based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) will be conducted prior to employment.
  • Drug Screening will be conducted prior to employment.
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Virginia Driver's License in good standing
Compensation:
  • $29.50 - $33.00/hourly

NOTE: This position is designed as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations. VDOT/Project Management will determine when essential positions are required.
