Job summary

  • Executes IQ/OQ/PQ protocols, including molding and post-processing parts and data collection.
  • Updates and develops documentation for manufacturing processes and work instructions.
  • Monitors in-process jobs and verifies materials and process settings.

The Engineering Technician will directly support operations and engineering activities including, but not limited to IQ/OQ/PQ execution, process documentation writing, hands-on molding and product processing and other technical support.

The Engineering Technician ensures ProMed’s brand, philosophy, systems, policies and procedures are properly implemented and observed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides direct support to production operators, production leads and supervisors, setup technicians, automation technicians and engineers.
  • Executes IQ/OQ/PQ protocol instructions, including molding and post-processing parts, measuring parts, collecting data and recording results to deliver to engineering.
  • Performs documentation updates and develops new documentation for manufacturing processes, including work instructions, standard operating procedures and other document types.
  • Interprets instructions, specifications and other pertinent information and communicates information to staff.
  • Monitor in-process manufacturing jobs including but not limited to documentation verification, material verification, process settings verification and other monitoring tasks.
  • Identify and initiate enhancements to equipment, tooling and processes.
  • Participates in project planning.
  • Resolves conflicts among peers, contractors and other parties within scope of authority.
  • Identifies and implements a comprehensive education plan to continually advance technical skills and personal development as well as enhancing organizational effectiveness.
  • Establishes and cultivates a network of support (quality, operations, engineering, sales and management) to facilitate completion of assignments.
  • The employee is expected to develop acceptable work habits, skills, knowledge and contributions consistent with the Engineering Technician position level.
  • May train other staff within the department.

This job also requires performing other duties as assigned.

Required:
  • High school diploma and either additional pre-engineering related coursework or vocational school; OR equivalent knowledge gained through experience.
  • At least three years of experience required including supervisory and/or engineering/production technician experience.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate engineering plans and specifications.
Preferred:
  • Experience with hands-on technical work
  • Demonstrated interest in the medical device and pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience with MS Office
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Clearly conveys ideas and receives information effectively
  • Self-starter with a proven ability to successfully work with minimal supervision
  • Professional, courteous and friendly personality
  • Working knowledge of English (verbal and written)

While performing the duties of this job:

  • The employee may be required to stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see and use repetitive motions;
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus;
  • The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with internal and external people;
  • Employee moves about the building and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks, etc.;
  • Employee may have duties involving walking on even or uneven surfaces;
  • Employee occasionally to frequently use a whiteboard, which can require grasping whiteboard pens, reaching at, below, or above shoulder height and may require trunk or neck rotation to look back;
  • Employee may use computers, overhead projectors, TV, and other work-related equipment, which may require an approximately 25+ pound force to push or pull equipment;
  • It is necessary to grasp and manipulate pens, markers, scissors, staplers, etc. occasionally to frequently.
  • Employee must see and hear on a continuous basis as well as speak frequently;
  • Position varies from standing, sitting, walking, etc. On some occasions it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc. over smooth or uneven surfaces.
