Job description

Who we are

Aurora’s mission is to deliver the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly.

The Aurora Driver will create a new era in mobility and logistics, one that will bring a safer, more efficient, and more accessible future to everyone.

At Aurora, you will tackle massively complex problems alongside other passionate, intelligent individuals, growing as an expert while expanding your knowledge. For the latest news from Aurora, visit aurora.tech or follow us on LinkedIn.

Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for an Engineering Technician.

In this role, you will
  • Work as a R&D Technician building Aurora’s self-driving technology – this includes harness fabrication from scratch, often from lucid charts, excel files, and engineering drawings.
  • Candidates must possess excellent documentation practices.
  • Work closely with Hardware Engineering and associated teams.
  • Follow safety standards and meet internal deadlines.
  • Work with limited oversight.
  • Seek continuing education and development opportunities.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in harness fabrication using 1:1 form boards and various tooling in R&D and prototype spaces
  • Strong electrical skills, ability to read wiring schematics and layouts, redline drawings, and communicate with EDS design engineers
  • Strong background in electrical wiring & harness fabrication from scratch.
  • Strong understanding of electrical tools and equipment; crimpers, dies, multimeter, presses, connectors, contacts, wire gauges/types, soldering, microscope, etc.
  • Exceptional craftsmanship with the ability to pin out and quality test harnesses/circuit boards
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, PLM, CAD, and various other software tools
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and self awareness
  • Ability to problem-solve, diagnose, analyze and isolate problems rationally
  • Proficiency with Windows and Google productivity Suite – specifically Sheets
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Approach work with a proactive, capable, and willingness attitude to solve problems and support peers
  • Ability to multitask under pressure in an unstructured environment
Desirable Qualifications
  • IPC training and certification in the following: IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-7711/7721
  • Certification and training in GD&T
Core Skills
  • Fast learner. We’re looking for team members who thrive on applying their knowledge, learning new technologies and don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. You should be able to adapt easily to meet the rapid pace of a rapidly evolving research, development, and testing environment.
  • Fearlessness. You think a working proof-of-concept is the best way to make a point. You strive to prove that speed and quality are not conflicting; that you can achieve both at the same time.
  • Versatility. In addition to having an intimate knowledge of core engineering fields, you understand how all the pieces fit together into integrated systems, and how they impact performance.
  • Passion. You feel ownership over everything you ship; you'd never call code or design "released" until you’re confident it’s correct. You pride yourself on efficient monitoring, strong documentation, and proper test coverage.
  • A team player. You believe that you can achieve more on a team — that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You rely on others' candid feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Design and business acumen. You understand requirements beyond the written word and how your technical contributions will influence the viability of future products. Whether you’re working on a software library used by other developers, a sensor to be retrofitted on a test vehicle, or a printed circuit to be mass produced, the other members of the team can depend on the quality of your work to rapidly advance our goals.

The base hourly wage range for this position is $35.50‑$46.25 per hour. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
