Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a General Engineering Technician / Technologist 3 to support roadway and railroad permitting efforts for fast-paced utility and infrastructure projects in the United States. This role ensures access approvals and permit requirements are obtained and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate collaborates with engineering, environmental, construction, and regulatory teams to negotiate access agreements while maintaining safety and cost-effectiveness

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with roadway permitting and access approvals.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and railroad permitting requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with government agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience negotiating agreements and right-of-access documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Safety-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage roadway and railroad permitting activities for infrastructure projects.
  • Develop permitting and access strategies to support project schedules.
  • Coordinate with project managers, environmental teams, engineers, and consultants.
  • Identify and secure road crossings, access points, and driveway entrances.
  • Plan contractor haul routes and access logistics.
  • Work with local and state agencies to obtain permits and approvals.
  • Negotiate access, road use, and railroad crossing agreements.
  • Track permit requirements and compliance through project completion.
  • Provide guidance on traffic control, roadway restrictions, and railroad standards.
  • Support roadway restoration and construction closeout activities.

Job Description:

Insight Global is seeking a General Engineering Technician / Technologist 3 for a leading utility and infrastructure client. This individual will support roadway and railroad permitting efforts for fast-paced power innovation projects, ensuring all access approvals and permit requirements are obtained and maintained throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineering, environmental, construction, and regulatory stakeholders to coordinate permitting activities, negotiate access agreements, and support safe, compliant, and cost-effective project execution. This role is well suited for someone with a background in roadway permitting, transportation coordination, or infrastructure project support.

Compensation:

$30+/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
