Job summary

Mirion Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Technician to build, test and modify development prototypes and production components. You will troubleshoot electronics, perform prototype assembly, and collaborate with physicists in research efforts.

The role requires strong PCB knowledge, SMT rework skills, and hands-on lab experience with DMMs, oscilloscopes, and other instruments. On-site work in a lab environment with IPC/ESD compliance is expected.

Qualifications

  • Identify components and apply electronic principles in practice.
  • Perform thorough troubleshooting at system and board level.
  • Follow IPC, ESD, and RoHS standards in lab work.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

The Engineering Technician is responsible for building, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modifying development prototypes and production components, parts, equipment, and systems by applying principles and theories of engineering, mathematics, testing and physics.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Circuit troubleshooting and data collection to include power supply, analog and digital circuits to the component level.
  • Prototype builds (mechanical assembly, PCB assembly and modifications).
  • Collaborate with physicists and other departments in research efforts in support of SNC
  • Perform administrative duties such as calibration testing, monitoring lab equipment, and conducting maintenance of lab equipment.
  • Conduct and record results of hardware and software tests
  • Assist Manufacturing in troubleshooting, rework and repair
  • Assist in transfer to Manufacturing of new products
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Read and follow electronic schematics, PCB layout drawings, identify components, and have excellent knowledge of electronic principles and practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills – at system, board and component level, perform failure analysis.
  • Strong surface mount technology (SMT) soldering and rework skills including fine pitch and leadless package
  • Excellent mechanical assembly skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of ESD, RoHS and IPC standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office applications.
  • Experience with DMM, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzers, Function Generator, Frequency Counter, digital logic analyzers, programmable logic devices and JTAG tools desirable.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two-year Associate’s Degree in Engineering with 5 years of work experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of work experience (preferable).
