Job summary

Thea Energy is seeking a hands-on technician to build, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems at our Kansas facility. You will assist in developing new equipment, tools, and inspection techniques to improve production speed while upholding high quality.

You will also be responsible for tool and workspace organization, assembling test articles and equipment, and collaborating to support manufacturing process development and tooling efforts in a fast-paced,

Qualifications

  • Ability to build, operate, maintain and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Willingness to travel or work nights/weekends/on-call as required.
  • Ability to work in a facility with industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, high voltage and cryogenics.
  • Commitment to safety and quality in a manufacturing environment.

Thea Energy is leveraging recent breakthroughs in stellarator physics and engineering to create a faster and simpler approach to commercializing fusion energy. The company is reinventing the stellarator using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils thereby replacing the intricate, complex modular magnets required in all other stellarator architectures. Position Overview
  • Build, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems
  • Assist in developing new equipment, tools, procedures, and inspection techniques to reduce production time while maintaining high quality
  • Responsible for tool and workspace organization and maintenance
  • Assemble and troubleshoot test articles and supporting test equipment
  • Collaborate to support development of manufacturing processes and tooling
Requirements
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call
  • Ability to work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
