Job summary

A medical innovation firm in Chanhassen seeks a detail-oriented professional to support the engineering department in the design and development of medical devices. Responsibilities include performing quality tests, documenting developments, assisting in training, and complying with various regulatory standards. Ideal candidates should hold a degree in an applicable field, possess strong communication and problem-solving skills, and have proficiency in SolidWorks and MS Office. This role requires on-site presence five days a week.

Qualifications

  • Degree preferably in engineering (ME, Ch.E, EE, Biomed. Eng.).
  • Strong communication skills essential.
  • Self-organizer with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong personal computer skills, including experience with: MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, SolidWorks software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform test procedures to ensure product quality.
  • Aid in the design and development of medical devices.
  • Document all developments in scientific notebooks.
  • Assist with training PMT personnel on processes.
  • Comply with GMP, ISO, FDA regulatory requirements.
  • Complete Change Controls using Qualio for processes and procedures.
  • Assist in the completion of new and existing product design validations
  • Complete design drawings in SolidWorks program and create prototypes to progress the development through its design stages.
  • Assist in training PMT personnel to processes associated with design and development of medical devices and accessories.
  • Aid Engineering in developing efficient (i.e. cost, material, time, etc.), user-friendly manufacturing processes.
  • Comply with appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. GMP, ISO, FDA, etc.) and associated quality systems described in PMT’s documentation.
  • Investigate the root cause of non-conformities
  • Assist with corrective actions and customer complaints
  • Complete routine equipment maintenance or repairs.
  • Assist PMT cleanroom technicians, as required.
  • Communicate with strategic vendors and suppliers.

Job description

Located in Chanhassen, Minnesota, PMT Corporation was established in 1979 as a private company dedicated to the research and development of specialty products, devices and instruments used in the medical field. PMT Corporation is known for manufacturing and distributing high end, innovative products within the orthopedic, neurosurgery and plastic surgery markets.

Position

This position is responsible for aiding the engineering department in the design and development of medical devices, device accessories and processes that complement our current product line in neurological, orthopedic, and plastic / reconstruction surgery areas. This position may also involve training technicians on processes and principles associated with the technology, as well as providing ongoing technical support to the engineering department and production.

This position is on-site at our Chanhassen Headquarters five days a week, M-F 8am - 4:30pm.

Responsibilities
  • Perform test procedures to verify and validate product quality and efficacy.
  • Aid engineering in the design and development of medical devices and accessories.
  • Use established procedures to improve existing medical devices and accessories. Continually optimize manufacturing procedures to produce less expensive, higher quality medical devices.
  • Aid in coordinating custom customer projects with different stakeholders in production and vendors.
  • Document all developments in scientific notebooks
  • Complete Change Controls using Qualio for processes and procedures.
  • Assist in the completion of new and existing product design validations
  • Complete design drawings in SolidWorks program and create prototypes to progress the development through its design stages.
