Job summary

Leggett & Platt Inc. seeks an Engineering Technician (Controls Technician) to support the manufacturing and engineering functions in an automated production environment in Carthage, Missouri.

You will help maintain PLCs, robotics, and machine vision, and contribute to system integration and preventive maintenance. The role emphasizes collaboration across Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering, with emphasis on safety, documentation, and ongoing process improvement in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar controls technician role.
  • Knowledge of PLC, robotics and machine vision systems.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability.
  • Willingness to learn basic electricity/electronics.
  • Proficiency with Word and Excel.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Drafting skills and ability to read blueprints.
  • Eagerness to learn and commitment to quality.
  • Commitment to safety and good housekeeping.
  • Ability to work in teams on continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe practices are followed, including use of protective equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering departments.
  • Support production and improve processes for controls, machine vision, and robotic systems.
  • Maintain and adjust machine vision systems to ensure quality.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and program Allen‑Bradley PLCs and peripheral equipment.
  • Develop, implement, and troubleshoot system integration.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, alignment, and calibration of robots.
  • Maintain robot end‑of‑arm tooling mechanically.
  • Create, improve, and maintain documentation related to these systems.

Our engineering team seeks an Engineering Technician (Controls Technician) to support both the manufacturing and engineering functions within our automated production environment.

What You Will Do
  • Ensure safe practices are followed, including use of protective equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering departments.
