Ontic Engineering & Manufacturing Inc. in Chatsworth, CA is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our on-site team. You will support manufacturing operations, troubleshoot routine production and engineering issues, and relay findings to Engineers to drive safety, quality and delivery.

You will review drawings, specs, and work instructions, assist with investigations, help implement corrective actions, and collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Design to sustain products and processes.

Our team is looking for an Engineering Technician to join them. You will report to the Engineering Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in Chatsworth, CA- This is a hands‑on technical role supporting manufacturing operations and helping resolve routine engineering and production issues that impact safety, quality, delivery, and operational performance. Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering, the Engineering Technician acts as an important link between the production floor and the Engineering team. You will support day‑to‑day troubleshooting, interpret engineering documentation, assist with investigations, implement approved engineering solutions, and elevate more complex technical issues to the appropriate Engineer. This role is ideal for someone with strong practical technical knowledge, a manufacturing mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced aerospace production environment.

As an Engineering Technician you will:

• Provide hands‑on technical support to manufacturing and assembly operations to help resolve routine production and engineering issues.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing, assembly, test, and process‑related concerns and support timely resolution of issues affecting production flow.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, work instructions, manufacturing routers, and other technical documentation.
• Assist Engineering and Quality with the investigation of product defects, nonconforming material, manufacturing discrepancies, and process concerns.
• Gather technical information, measurements, observations, and supporting data to assist Engineers with root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Support the implementation of Engineer‑approved corrective actions, process changes, repairs, and technical solutions on the production floor.
• Identify issues that require additional engineering analysis and elevate higher‑complexity technical concerns to the appropriate Engineer.
• Support Material Review Board (MRB) and nonconformance activities by gathering information and assisting with implementation of approved dispositions.
• Assist with the creation, revision, and maintenance of manufacturing procedures, work instructions, technical documentation, and production records.
• Support product and process sustainment activities, including investigation of recurring production issues and opportunities for process improvement.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost, delivery, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Support the introduction, transfer, or transition of new and existing products into production.
• Assist with first‑build activities, production trials, process validation, and implementation of manufacturing changes.
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Design Engineers, Quality, Operations, Inspection, and other cross‑functional teams.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and ensure changes are implemented in accordance with approved engineering and quality processes.
• Perform other technical and engineering support activities as required.

Requirements

• Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent technical training in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Electronics, Aerospace, or a related technical discipline preferred.
• Relevant hands‑on experience in manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, automotive, industrial, or similarly regulated technical environment.
• Strong practical understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
• Basic understanding of dimensional tolerances, mechanical components, assemblies, and inspection requirements.
• Hands‑on troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with the ability to investigate issues in a structured manner.
• Ability to identify the difference between routine production issues that can be supported independently and more complex technical issues that require Engineering review.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly with production employees, Engineers, Quality personnel, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, production‑focused environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn engineering, quality, ERP, and document‑control systems.

Preferred qualifications

• Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing, MRO, precision manufacturing, or another regulated industry.
• Experience supporting mechanical, electromechanical, or aerospace products.
• Familiarity with GD&T, basic inspection methods, nonconformance processes, MRB, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action.
• Experience supporting new product introduction, product transfers, manufacturing process changes, or production sustainment activities.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
