The Mission

Open to external candidates
A Role With Dynamic Responsibilities

This is a technical role within a systems-management-driven team. You will contribute across the lifecycle of facility and test-support systems—from supporting requirements development and field assessments to assisting with troubleshooting equipment, developing maintenance procedures, and documenting system configuration. One day, you may support equipment inspections and technical data reviews; the next, help investigate equipment malfunction and coordinate corrective actions with engineering, operations, and craft personnel. We are seeking a versatile, proactive engineering technologist who enjoys solving practical problems in an industrial and test operations environment.

Job Duties
  • Apply sound technical practices, established procedures, and practical problem-solving skills to support safe, reliability, and effective operation of facility and test-support systems.
  • Support engineers and project teams in the preparation, interpretation, review, and maintenance of technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, equipment data sheets, work packages, procedures, calculations, and reports.
  • Conduct field walkdowns, equipment inspections, and condition assessments to verify system configuration, identify discrepancies, and support maintenance or modification planning.
  • Assist with installation, startup, checkout, troubleshooting, and operational readiness activities for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and data-acquisition systems.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze equipment-performance, maintenance, and operational data to identify trends, support reliability improvements, and document technical findings.
  • Develop or revise maintenance procedures, operating instructions, inspection checklists, equipment records, and other technical work products under established engineering processes and supervisory direction.
  • Support procurement and project execution activities by assisting with material identification, equipment evaluations, technical data reviews, cost estimates, field verification, and coordination with vendors or craft personnel.
  • Participate in anomaly investigations, troubleshooting efforts, and causal-analysis activities by gathering facts, reviewing available data, documenting findings, and supporting development of corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, maintenance, project management, safety, and craft workforce personnel to support system readiness and planned maintenance activities.
  • Communicate technical information, equipment status, maintenance needs, and findings to team members, BNH management, Air Force customers, and other stakeholders, as appropriate.
  • Maintain awareness of and comply with applicable safety, quality, configuration-control, maintenance, and work-control processes.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electromechanical Engineering Technology, or a closely related engineering technology discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance and maintain authorized user access to the AEDC local area network.
  • S. Citizenship is required due to federal government contract compliance requirements and the necessity to access secure federal databases and networks on Arnold Air Force Base.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience supporting mechanical, electrical, industrial controls, instrumentation, data-acquisition, compressed-air, hydraulic, vacuum, utility, or similar large-scale industrial systems.
  • Experience with system startups, field engineering support, test operations, equipment maintenance, plant operations, installation oversight, or troubleshooting in a large industrial or technical environment.
  • Familiarity with preventive and corrective maintenance practices, work-control processes, configuration management, and technical documentation.
  • Experience working effectively with engineers, operators, maintenance personnel, technicians, and craft workforce teams.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adjust priorities to accomplish mission objectives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate technical information to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to track actions, document progress, and support multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Demonstrated initiative, technical curiosity, and commitment to learning complex systems.
  • Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
Who You Are
  • You thrive in an environment where no two days are the same and are motivated by the challenge of solving diverse technical problems.
  • You are a multi-talented engineer who is not afraid to wear multiple hats and enjoys seeing a project through from concept to completion.
  • You are a lifelong learner with a flexible mindset, capable of shifting between analytical design work and hands-on, practical application.
  • You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
  • If you are a problem-solver who is ready to make a tangible impact on the future of aerospace and defense, we encourage you to apply.
