Job summary

Hemet Global Medical Center seeks an Engineering Tech to perform preventive maintenance, inspection, service, repair and general upkeep of hospital equipment and facilities on 8-hour shifts.

The role requires experience in trades, a California driver’s license and weekend/holiday availability, with a wage range of $26.83 to $31.43 per hour.

Qualifications

• Post high school vocational with specialized training.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance or related trades.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a California driver’s license; driving record must meet insurability requirements.
• Must be licensed in one or more trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.), Journeyman’s Certificate or Healthcare Mechanic Certification acceptable or 3+ years verifiable experience.
• Position requires some weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspection, service and repair of hospital equipment, plant equipment and facilities.
• Overhaul and general maintenance of facilities and equipment.
• Operate and test electrical systems, HVAC and related equipment.
• Prepare reports and maintain records related to maintenance activities.

POSITION SUMMARY

DEFINITION

Under general direction, performs a variety of duties including preventive maintenance, inspection, service, repair, overhaul and general maintenance of equipment, plant equipment and facilities of the hospital; and to do other work as required.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be:

Education

Post high school vocation with specialized training.

Experience

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance or considerable experience in one or more trades such as plumbing, electrical, pipe fitting, HVAC or closely related.

Licensure/Certification

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license. Employees must maintain a driving record, which meets the insurability requirements of the PHH, Inc.

Must be licensed in one or more trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.), Journeyman’s Certificate or Healthcare Mechanic Certification is acceptable or a minimum of three (3) years verifiable experience through employment history in one of the above trades.

This position does REQUIRE some weekends/Holidays.

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

• Testing instruments on electrical lighting, emergency generators, alarm systems, communication system, and medical equipment and HVAC system.
• Hand tools and power tools.
• Basic mathematics and report writing.

Ability to:

• Test, repair, install and replace electrical circuits, equipment and appliances.
• Operate refrigeration, cooling and air conditioning systems and equipment.
• Understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Keep abreast of developments in the field of expertise
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Prepare necessary reports and records.
