E-ONE, a leading fire apparatus manufacturer, seeks a supervising engineer/manager to lead electrical and mechanical engineers, designers, and technicians in designing and testing components and systems.

You will ensure designs meet customer requirements, standards, and cost targets while guiding Lean initiatives and supporting regional dealers. This role requires strong communication, problem solving, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering required.
  • 3+ years as individual contributor; 7+ years total preferred.
  • Experience with CAD/CAE tools and engineering analysis methods.

Responsabilités

  • Coordinates activities of engineers, designers, and technicians by scheduling work and setting priorities.
  • Reviews and approves designs and related components.
  • Creates specifications aligned with customer requirements and standards.
  • Participates in customer meetings to discuss design parameters.
  • Develops robust, safe, buildable product designs and minimizes interferences.
  • Supports regional and international dealers as needed.
  • Leads Lean initiatives and drives continuous improvement across the department.
  • Plans resources to meet bid and order review schedules.
  • Evaluates employee performance and identifies training needs.
  • Collaborates with management/production on feasibility and cost for new products.

SCOPE

Supervises a team of electrical/mechanical engineers, designers or technicians who design, develop, and test all aspects of components, equipment, and machinery. Applies principles and techniques of engineering to accomplish goals. May work with other engineering teams to increase efficiency, production quality, and volume.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  • Coordinates activities of engineers, designers, and technicians by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of the assigned team to meet goals and objectives as defined for the department.
  • Responsible for the review and approval of designs and related components.
  • Responsible for creating specifications and consistent with customer requirements, industry and regulatory standards, and established company practices.
  • Participates in customer meetings to understand design requirements and answer questions regarding product design parameters and/or limitations.
  • Creates a robust product design that is safe, buildable and avoids interferences.
  • Support regional and international dealers as needed.
  • Leads company initiatives, such as Lean, through his/her organization and departmental area of responsibility. Provides support to other departments and company initiatives such as lean and continuous improvement.
  • Plans and assigns resources as appropriate to deliver to bid review and order review schedule commitments.
  • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through review of completed work assignments and work techniques. Identifies team development and training needs and conducts the training or otherwise ensures that training is obtained.
  • Confers with management and production to determine engineering feasibility for production, and cost effectiveness for new and existing products.
  • Maintains industry standards while driving ingenuity in product design with a focus on profitability and cost reduction.
  • Responsible for administrative functions such as recording time and attendance and enforcement of policies and procedures.
  • Supports Production during the manufacturing and prototype process to ensure smooth flow on the production line
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Skills in computer simulation, cost estimation, design optimization, design review, engineering analysis & design, feasibility study, mathematical analysis & modeling, prototyping, quality assurance process and reliability analysis.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing industry and vocational standards.
  • CAD and CAE software experience.
  • Experience with problem solving techniques (5 why & root cause analysis).
  • Experience with statistical techniques and data analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work directly with hourly production employees and leadership concerning manufacturing initiatives and progress updates.
  • Strong work ethic, highly motivated, organized, and self-disciplined.
  • Versatile, flexible, and willing to work with changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute concurrent assignments in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong and consistent attention to detail.

  • Solid PC skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout and other written or verbal instructions.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees in the organization.
  • Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of situations.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree of Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent education required.
  • Typically requires 3+ years of experience in the related area as an individual contributor (7 + years total experience).
WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
  • Occasional standing, walking, or moving about the office/warehouse.
  • Ability to lift or carry items up to 10–15 pounds (such as files, laptops, or office supplies).
  • Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Visual ability to read documents, screens, and reports.
  • Clear verbal communication for meetings, phone calls, and presentations.
  • Ability to focus on detailed tasks for sustained periods.
