Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding offers 2027 summer internships to engineering bachelor or master’s degree students across Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, Nuclear, Systems, Structural, Civil, and related fields. Interns will work 40 hours per week for 10 consecutive weeks during the summer to gain hands-on experience in technical or administrative assignments.

These internships may lead to future full-time employment but are not guaranteed.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a 4-year college/university (or 2+2 program) for Fall 2027
• Engineering majors must be ABET-accredited
• Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater
• Unofficial transcripts are required when applying

Responsibilities

• Gain experience in technical or administrative roles related to your major
• Work 40 hours per week for 10 consecutive weeks during the summer
