Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking an Engineering Specialist - Process to apply engineering principles to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products in Final Transmission Assembly. You will lead process audits, drive safety and quality improvements, and develop action plans to address quality concerns while ensuring compliance with standards.

The role requires 1+ year in manufacturing, Lean/Six Sigma experience, and a Bachelor's in an engineering discipline.

Qualifications

• 1+ years in a manufacturing environment (internship/co-op counts).
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
• FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Support Manufacturing Process Engineering activity for Final Transmission Assembly.
• Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost and productivity.
• Apply engineering principles to establish and improve manufacturing processes and products.
• Develop action plans to investigate quality concerns and verify corrective actions.
• Lead process audits to ensure discipline per Vehicle Operations guidelines.
• Conduct job ergonomic evaluations and implement corrective actions.
• Analyze vehicle inventory root causes and drive corrective actions.
• Create process/instruction sheets supporting quality methods.
• Lead resolution of assembly-related concerns and lean initiatives.
• Ensure compliance to Plant, Corporate, Governmental and Environmental standards.
• Back up ISO 14001 compliance and support audits.

You will apply engineering principles & analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.

What you'll do...

• Support Manufacturing Process Engineering activity for Final Transmission Assembly

• Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost and productivity

• Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products

• Develop action plans as required to investigate and prioritize quality concerns and verify corrective actions on internal processes and supplier processes

• Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with Vehicle Operations guidelines

• Conduct job ergonomic evaluations and deliver corrective actions as required

• Analyze vehicle inventory root causes; engage in mapping and corrective actions to reduce vehicle inventory

• Create process and instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processes

• Lead role in resolving assembly related concerns. Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices

• Ensure compliance to Plant, Corporate, Governmental and Environmental standards

• Back up ISO 14001 compliance and support internal ISO auditing and compliance as required

• Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements

• Develop Back-up Processes to ensure production throughput sustainment.

You’ll have...

• High School Diploma or GED

• 1 or more years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment (internship and coop experience will be considered)

• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience

• FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial) or equivalent to this.

Even better, you may have...

• Effective oral and written communication skills

• 2 or more years in the automotive industry

• 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem-solving skills

• Solid understanding of Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping

• Familiarity with DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience

• Knowledge of TQM and Kaizen Methods

• Validated experience with Visual Factory Management

• Ergonomic analysis knowledge and experience

• Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills

This position is a salary grade 6-8- from $72,480 -$162,120
