Job summary

HDR, Inc. in Anchorage seeks a Civil/Environmental Engineer with project management leadership to drive planning, design, permitting, and construction administration of landfill, site development and related environmental projects.

The role emphasizes client relationship management, business development, and mentoring junior staff, with eligibility to obtain Alaska PE within one year and a minimum of seven years of experience including two in PM.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Planning, design, permitting, and construction administration of civil/site and environmental projects (landfills, vertical facilities, brownfields, remediation).
  • Lead project designer, engineer of record, and project manager on small to large projects with progressive leadership.
  • Help sustain and grow client relationships and contribute to business development.
  • Identify opportunities, develop scopes of work and budgets, and participate in pursuits.
  • Mentor junior staff and coordinate with the team.

Job description

Overview

The primary duties of this position include all aspects of technical engineering, project management, and client relationship management. Work is primarily focused on civil and environmental projects which include vertical facilities, land development, site grading, local permitting, federal and state permitting, storm water design, volume calculations, geotechnical/geosynthetics, feasibility studies, capital planning, operations planning, and other civil/site requirements such as utilities. Other general civil/environmental experience with planning, engineering analysis, cost estimating, design, construction management, planning, and permitting/regulatory compliance is required. Municipal solid waste (MSW) along with other waste management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Planning, design, permitting, and construction administration of civil/site and environmental projects (landfills, vertical facilities, brownfields, remediation).
  • Experienced with and/or knowledgeable of storm water controls, groundwater monitoring and remediation networks, leachate management systems, landfill gas collection and control systems, and site layout/infrastructure elements (utilities, roads, support buildings, soil borrow areas, etc.).
  • Function as a lead project designer, engineer of record, and project manager on small to large project, and is expected to demonstrate a history of progressive experience effectively leading similar scale projects.
  • Responsible for assisting team leadership in sustaining and growing client relationships and organizing and contributing to overall business development opportunities.
  • A core component of this will be identifying upcoming project opportunities and participating in the project pursuit and proposal development, including developing scopes of work and budgets.
  • Coordinate and interface with junior staff to mentor and continue to grow our team.
  • Alaska PE or ability to obtain Alaska PE within one year of hire.
  • Five years of project management experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 7 years related experience inclusive of a minimum 2 years experience in project management
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • MS Office and MS Project experience is required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
