Job summary

The Engineering Project Manager III is responsible for independently managing complex capital infrastructure projects across the enterprise and providing advanced technical knowledge and advice to the management team. This role will lead projects from ideation and concept development, exploration of options, and application of critical thinking through successful execution of capital infrastructure installations. The role establishes and maintains effective working relationships with A&E contractors, subcontractors, and other external partners to support project delivery. This role will also leverage strong cross-functional collaboration to ensure project success and contribute to the overall operational excellence of the company.

Job Responsibilities
  • Independently manage and lead significant, complex capital improvement, construction, and utility infrastructure projects from concept development through installation, startup, and handoff to the production facility.
  • Lead the execution of complex greenfield capital construction projects.
  • Coordinate and lead large multi-department project design teams consisting of engineering and other support areas, contractors, and consultants to achieve project deliverables.
  • Establish and implement a clear project communication plan
  • Assist GLC plant management teams with the preparation of significant, complex capital improvement projects, developing the work scope, schedule, budget, justification, and marketing efforts related to obtaining funding approval
  • Develop short range and long-range capital plans for multiple facilities
  • Address and resolve emerging issues from suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, managing changes with minimal disruption to project objectives
  • Create, modify and support design requests for equipment layouts and design changes to facilities.
  • Serve as a technical resource during regulatory inspections and other interactions with regulatory agencies.
  • Support the transfer and implementation of process technologies from OEMs and external partners, including process validation activities and associated technical documentation.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams during the entire lifecycle of the project.
  • Apply advanced engineering and project management expertise to solve complex technical and operational challenges, including those requiring the adaptation of new technologies, methods, or concepts.
  • Analyze technology trends to improve infrastructure projects throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with GLC Sustainability Team to provide data, improve infrastructure systems, reduce emissions, and provide insight to the project team of possible technologies that could impact the project.
  • Inform management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, reduce energy consumption, and develop recommendations accordingly.
  • Up to 50% travel.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  • 4 years of project engineering experience Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Excellent verbal & written communications skills.
  • Strong problem solving and hands on trouble shooting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail on multiple simultaneous tasks.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • 4-8-years of project engineering experience.
  • Project management and experience including sanitary design and SQF requirements in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the Food and Beverage industry.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office including Excel, Project, and Word.
  • Experience in building construction, plant utilities, and wastewater treatment.
  • Mastery of GMPs and the know how to work and manage within a regulatory environment.
  • Strong technical skills, cost consciousness, organizational, and communication skills taking projects from concept development to commercialization stages.
  • OSHA 10hr Safety Certification.
  • Lean manufacturing and CI experience.
Working Conditions
  • Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
  • Work is mainly performed in an office setting, with some time spent in a manufacturing environment
