Systems Engineer - Configuration Manager

Job Description

The Systems Engineer Configuration Manager supports the configuration management division by reviewing aerospace documentation, identifying gaps in the change management process, and streamlining communication across multiple engineering disciplines. This role ensures that all change requests are properly tracked and controlled, enabling consistent, accurate, and compliant documentation throughout complex aerospace projects.

Responsibilities

• Review aerospace documentation for the configuration management division to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards.

• Identify gaps and weaknesses in the existing change management process and recommend improvements to enhance consistency and control.

• Streamline communication among systems, software, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines to support effective configuration management.

• Track and maintain records of all change requests, ensuring that each request is properly documented, approved, and implemented.

• Coordinate with engineering disciplines to ensure adherence to change management procedures and hold teams accountable to established processes.

• Interpret and work with software coding drawings, CAD drawings, and test instruction documentation to verify proper configuration and change control.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve configuration issues and support timely project execution.

• Communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders at all levels to explain configuration changes, impacts, and required actions.

Essential Skills

• Experience with document management and document control in an engineering or technical environment.

• Strong understanding of configuration principles and practices, particularly within engineering projects.

• Familiarity with aerospace projects and associated documentation requirements.

• Ability to hold multiple engineering disciplines accountable to established change management processes.

• Ability to interpret software coding drawings, CAD drawings, and test instructions documentation.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.

• Experience in configuration management across engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, logistics, and software.

• Experience working with or supporting configuration management activities in aerospace, electrical, software, and mechanical domains.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior configuration management in aerospace or related industries.

• Experience working with electrical engineering documentation and change control.

• Experience working with mechanical engineering documentation and change control.

• Exposure to logistics-related configuration management processes.

• Broad understanding of how software, electrical, and mechanical documentation interact within complex systems.

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
