Job summary

Viant Medical Inc. in Puerto Rico is seeking a Process Technician III to independently manage manufacturing process development, validation, and continuous improvement within injection molding operations.

You will evaluate processes, identify risks, implement corrective actions, and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. This role requires advanced technical expertise, strong problem-solving, and the ability to lead technical projects on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in injection molding/plastics manufacturing.
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Independently support and optimize injection molding and manufacturing processes to meet quality, productivity, and cost targets.
• Lead execution of process validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) and equipment qualifications.
• Analyze process data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to improve process capability.
• Troubleshoot complex process/equipment/quality issues and drive corrective actions.
• Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing process parameters and procedures.
• Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean, SPC, DOE.

About the role:

The Process Technician III is an advanced technical professional responsible for independently managing manufacturing process development, validation, compliance, and continuous improvement activities. This position exercises significant discretion and independent judgment in evaluating manufacturing processes, identifying technical risks, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Independently support and optimize injection molding and manufacturing processes to achieve quality, productivity, and cost objectives.


• Lead the execution of process validations, including IQ, OQ, PQ, equipment qualifications, and process revalidations.


• Analyze process data, identify trends, and develop recommendations to improve process capability, yield, and overall operational performance.


• Troubleshoot complex process, equipment, tooling, and quality issues and implement corrective actions.


• Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing process parameters, specifications, and technical procedures.


• Conduct root cause investigations and support corrective and preventive action activities.


• Lead continuous improvement projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing, SPC, DOE, and other problem-solving methodologies.


• Support new product introductions, process transfers, tooling qualifications, and equipment implementation activities.


• Monitor key process metrics including scrap, cycle time, downtime, process capability, and production efficiency.


• Author and maintain validation documentation, engineering reports, technical studies, and process improvement records.


• Assess manufacturing risks and recommend process modifications to improve compliance, quality, and operational effectiveness.

Job Requirements:

Required

• High School Diploma or GED.


• Technical certification, vocational training, or equivalent experience in manufacturing, plastics, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline.


• Advanced knowledge of injection molding processes and manufacturing operations.


• Strong understanding of process validation methodologies (IQ, OQ, PQ).


• Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), process capability analysis, and troubleshooting methodologies.


• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.

Preferred

• Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Plastics Technology, or a related field.


• RJG Master Molder II or equivalent industry certification.


• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training.

Skills/Competencies:

• 5+ years of experience in injection molding, plastics manufacturing, or a related manufacturing environment.


• Experience independently troubleshooting manufacturing processes and implementing corrective actions.


• Experience supporting process validations, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Technical Skills

• Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis.


• Process optimization and performance monitoring.


• Validation protocol execution and technical report writing.


• Statistical analysis and process capability evaluation.


• Strong understanding of manufacturing compliance and quality systems.


• Proficiency with metrology equipment and measurement techniques.
