Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician for night shifts in Covington, GA. You will operate and maintain critical data center infrastructure, including diesel generators, switchgear, PDUs, and HVAC systems, ensuring 99.999% uptime.
In this hands-on role you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot facility events, and collaborate with global engineers to test emerging technologies.
As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT), you will maintain and operate the critical infrastructure systems that keep AWS's cloud running. Working in some of the most sophisticated and secure data centers in the world, you will be hands-on with electrical, mechanical, and life safety equipment—ensuring the 99.999% uptime that millions of customers rely on.
In this Nights role, you will troubleshoot mission-critical systems including diesel generators, 3‑phase electrical systems, switchgear, power distribution equipment, and HVAC and mechanical systems. You will perform preventative maintenance, respond to facility events, and collaborate with engineers from around the globe to test and implement emerging technologies that meet the demands of a rapidly evolving cloud computing landscape.

This role acts as Amazon’s front line when it comes to hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting, reporting to a site’s Data Center Facility Manager (FM). They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission‑critical data center facility equipment including stand‑by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems such as switchgear, PDUs,batteries and associated systems, and all mechanical equipment. Additional support equipment is included in the scope of the role which includes fire/life safety equipment, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.
The NIGHTS Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team maintains the electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems that power AWS's global infrastructure. We are the people who keep the cloud running—supporting all AWS data centers and ensuring customers have continual access to the services they depend on.
As part of AWS Infrastructure Services, you will work at the intersection of traditional facilities engineering and cloud‑scale innovation. Our focus for the coming years is scaling operations to support new AWS regions while improving energy efficiency and system reliability. You will be part of implementing next‑generation power and cooling solutions, developing maintenance strategies, and solving complex technical challenges with thousands of variables.
You will collaborate with Chief Engineers, Facility Managers, Data Center Operations teams, and specialists across hardware, network, supply chain, and security disciplines. Together, we deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing the capacity our customers need at the lowest possible cost.
