Job summary

Riot Games Sydney is seeking an Engineering Manager, Software Engineering to lead a small team of staff engineers contributing to Unreal Engine-based core technology. You will partner with engineering and product leaders to set priorities and guide delivery of reliable, reusable solutions for game development across Riot.

This role blends people leadership with technical judgement and delivery leadership. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and expand the team's impact

Qualifications

• 7+ years professional experience as a software engineer.
• 3+ years experience as an Engineering Manager leading engineers.
• 3+ years experience in a technical lead role.
• Experience recruiting candidates and growing an engineering team.
• Experience shipping products on large code bases across platforms.
• Experience collaborating across teams to create solutions.
• Experience developing with C++.
• Experience working with game development teams.
• Exposure to Unreal Engine.

Responsibilities

• Recruit engineers with strong technical judgement and collaborative leadership.
• Lead, coach, and develop a small team of staff software engineers.
• Partner with engineering and product leaders to set clear priorities and connect work to outcomes.
• Build partnerships across Riot teams to extend impact.
• Guide technical direction for Unreal Engine-based core technology work.
• Maintain high architectural ownership and knowledge sharing across projects.
• Stay hands-on through prototyping and tooling while focusing on people leadership.
