Job summary

Giga Energy is seeking an Engineering Manager, Transformers to lead and grow the transformer engineering function, developing engineers and driving design and product development with manufacturing, supply chain, operations, and commercial teams.

The ideal candidate has deep practical experience in designing distribution transformers and a track record building high-performing teams across cross-functional groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline required.
• 7+ years of experience designing and developing distribution transformer products for the North American market.
• 3+ years of leadership or management experience.
• Strong understanding of transformer electrical, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing fundamentals.
• Experience bringing transformer products from design through production.
• Experience working cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations teams.
• Knowledge of IEEE, UL, ANSI, and NEMA transformer standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of transformer engineers.
• Own execution of transformer design and product development projects from concept through production.
• Drive engineering decisions related to performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
• Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operations teams.
• Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Establish engineering processes and standards.
• Support supplier evaluations and technical reviews.
• Manage engineering priorities and schedules.
