This is a management level, professional position. The incumbent assists the Deputy Director of Engineering & Development in planning, supervising, organizing, coordinating and directing engineering activities of the Department
The Engineering Manager reports to the Deputy Director of Engineering & Development and supervises assigned Civil and/or Utility Engineers and Utility Agents.
Extensive knowledge of modern principles of civil engineering, required. Ability to evaluate plans, estimates and specifications. Ability to manage budgets, programs and projects and to direct work of subordinates. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others and to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to exercise good judgment and to work independently.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required with at least five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering experience required; Professional Engineers (PE) license in the State of Virginia required; Erosion and Sediment Control Certification may be required – OR – Any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.
