Job description

About Owner

Owner is the AI-native system local business owners use to succeed, starting with restaurants.

We're building the system that replaces the many tools owners use to run their business.

It powers everything from the restaurant's website, online ordering, CRM, POS, and more.

Product philosophy

Most small business software makes owners do the work to get what they want: sales growth and profit growth. Owner does the work for them agentically.

Our system drives demand, converts it, and helps operators run their business day to day. As it improves, the business improves with it.

Using Owner should feel like having a team of great operators, engineers, and marketers working for you.

Our vision

We're starting by helping independent restaurants succeed online.

But it's not just restaurants that need our help. Most local businesses are struggling with these same problems. Huge technology corporations are taking their customers, bleeding their profits, and making it hard for them to survive.

Once we nail the solution for restaurants - we'll scale it into every other local business type.

In the future we envision, tens of millions of local business owners will use our technology to succeed in the digital age.

Our traction

Since 2020, we've generated tens of millions in revenue and processed over a billion dollars of online orders. 1 in 5 Americans have used an Owner.com website.

More importantly, we've helped over 20,000 restaurant owners, and saved them nearly $200 million in fees.

Our team

Our team is now in the low hundreds. We've got top talent from the most successful companies in SMB software, including: Shopify, HubSpot, DoorDash, ServiceTitan, Rappi, Faire and Stripe.

We'll be scaling even faster in 2026 to keep pace with our customer growth.

Where we work

Owner is a remote-first, global company headquartered in San Francisco, with a sales hub in Toronto. For a few of our roles we prioritize in-person collaboration at one of our office locations. Most of our teammates are distributed throughout the globe. Please review the role description and discuss with your recruiter for more details on location!

Role Overview

Owner is the leading all-in-one platform for independent restaurants, and 2026 is the year we engineer a true product-led growth motion: restaurant owners should be able to go from discovering Owner all the way to running their whole business on it, opting into each next step because they trust it's worth it.

As we scale that motion, we're expanding our product engineering leadership to accelerate our ability to ship fast, delight restaurant owners, and build infrastructure that scales with us. As an Engineering Manager for Launch and Websites, you'll lead teams of fullstack engineers building the core product surfaces owners rely on every day - from the self-serve launch journey that takes them from Grader to POS, to the website design, builder, and generation systems that put their brand online. This role is equal parts product intuition and technical execution. You'll be trusted to make fast, high-quality decisions, ship impactful features, and grow a team that embodies engineering excellence.

We move with urgency, bias toward simplicity, and expect our leaders to be hands-on when needed. If you're energized by ownership, decisive execution, and solving real problems for small business owners, we'd love to hear from you.

Why we're looking for you

Today, most restaurant owners lose an enormous amount of time and trust just getting live on Owner and getting a website that actually represents their brand, instead of running their business. Launch owns the self-serve journey that takes an owner from Grader all the way to POS - engineering the automation and trust signals that let owners opt into each next step without needing a person to walk them through it. Websites owns the design, builder, and AI-powered generation systems that put a restaurant's brand online, closing the customization gaps that drive churn and increasing the number of high-quality sites we launch.

These two teams sit at the center of Owner's product-led growth motion this year - systems directly in the critical path for how independent restaurants activate, launch, and show up online.

We're looking for an Engineering Manager who cares deeply about the craft and the team behind it - someone who's led full-stack engineers building customer-facing product end-to-end, and who's excited to build a strong, durable engineering culture across two of our most strategically important product areas.

Our Stack
  • Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript
  • Backend: Node.js, TypeScript
  • Databases: MongoDB, PostgreSQL
  • Infrastructure & Observability: Temporal, Datadog, AWS
  • TypeScript everywhere
What we're looking for
  • ~3 years of experience in a software engineering management role leading fullstack product engineering teams, preferably in high-growth environments
  • A track record of leading high-performing, engaged full-stack engineering teams - not purely backend-platform or purely frontend teams
  • Strong product sense and an instinct for balancing speed, quality, and user impact
  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g. React) and backend systems (e.g. Node.js)
  • High degree of cross-functional collaboration - past colleagues in product, design, and business would speak highly of your teamwork
  • A plus: growth or PLG experience (self-serve activation, onboarding, upgrade flows) - desirable, not required
  • A plus: experience applying LLMs or agents (research, enrichment, next-best-action, automated diagnosis)
Compensation and benefits
  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $230K-$250K, depending on experience and location. The offer also includes a a generous pre-IPO equity package.
  • Other benefits include comprehensive health coverage, remote-first workplace, unlimited PTO - plus extra fun perks!
