Job summary

Cursor is seeking a leader to architect and guide the infrastructure used to train, test, and evaluate state-of-the-art ML models. You will work with researchers to balance latency, quality, and cost while keeping the system reliable and reproducible at scale.

Your role includes mentoring engineers, improving pipelines, and hiring top talent to build a high-impact team capable of delivering production-grade ML infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Led teams building infrastructure that trains, evaluates, or serves ML models in production.
• Strong fundamentals in infrastructure and distributed systems under load.
• Hands-on coding, PR reviews, and fast iteration with Cursor tooling.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and make informed decisions.
• Experience hiring and developing engineers to grow high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for training and evaluation at scale.
• Debug alongside engineers and collaborate with researchers on tradeoffs (latency, quality, cost).
• Design eval pipelines that catch regressions before they ship.
• Own environments for model training and testing that are sandboxed and reproducible.
• Measure quality and progress beyond shipping things that work in theory.
• Hire, interview, and mentor infrastructure engineers.
