About The Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Mx AI/ML team, driving the design and deployment of next‑generation AI product solutions that power our merchant experiences. This is a highly cross‑functional leadership role — you’ll collaborate with product, design, operations, and data science teams to define the AI roadmap, guide technical direction, and deliver end‑to‑end AI/ML solutions at massive scale. You’ll lead a team of talented ML engineers who are building real AI products delivered to merchants’ fingertips, helping them become more successful on DoorDash.

We're Excited About You Because You Have …

• 7+ years of industry experience in machine learning and AI engineering, including 2+ years of leadership experience managing applied scientists and ML engineers.
• A proven track record of building and deploying AI/ML systems at scale, with shipped AI‑powered products that have reached millions of users.
• Broad knowledge of machine learning and technical depth in one or more areas: computer vision, natural language processing, generative models, or large‑scale agent systems.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders.
• A demonstrated ability to define clear roadmaps and execution plans to deliver team success.
• A passion for building teams, mentoring talent, and cultivating an inclusive, high‑impact culture.
• Experience at the intersection of product and engineering, using AI to solve real customer problems.

Compensation

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job‑related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market‑dependent and may be modified in the future. In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

• For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
• For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g., about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g., about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).

National Base Pay Range (United States, Illinois, Colorado)

$193,800 – $285,000 USD.
