Job summary

Polynt Composites USA is seeking an Engineering Manager to implement best practices, oversee capital projects, and supervise contractors while managing the site's PSM program, reporting to the Site Manager.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, 10+ years in plant engineering/maintenance, capital project management, and strong EHS/PSM. SAP and CMMS experience are preferred. The position offers growth opportunities and competitive benefits.

  • 10+ years of engineering and maintenance experience at the plant level with a strong background in engineering and maintenance management.
  • Background in capital projects management and EHS/PSM.

Responsibilities

  • Identify projects, prepare budgets and manage capital plan to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Optimize capital projects to ensure on-time/on-budget delivery of designed processes and equipment.
  • Maintain PHA, PSM, ISO9000 practices and site improvements; review change orders and coordinate contractors.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance and unit operations and troubleshoot DCS systems.

Polynt Composites USA is a global leader in the manufacturing of composites, coatings, and chemical intermediates, serving key industries such as industrial, transportation, construction, marine, medical, and consumer goods.

The incumbent will be accountable for implementing engineering best practices to assure the desired level of plant reliability. This role will be responsible for managing the capital projects along with hiring and direct supervision of project contractors and managing the overall PSM program. The Engineering Manager reports directly to the Site Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify projects, prepare cost estimates and appropriation requests, manage project implementations (i.e., construction, contractors, specify equipment, procurement, start-up, etc.) and execute capital plan as best defined by completing assigned projects on schedule and within budget. Responsible for capital budget management, capital planning, CAR submission and all project-related activities. Responsible for cash flow forecasting of all project spending and closing projects upon receipt of the last invoice associated with each project. (30%)
  • Optimize capital projects to assure on-time and on-budget delivery of as designed processes and equipment installed to good engineering practices. Consult with other managers to deliver site improvements that benefit all stakeholders. Manage the contractors and ensure that daily work logs are completed and signed each day. Review and approve all work scope change orders before allowing contractor to proceed with work Maintain and redline all plant PID’s. (20%)
  • Maintain and update PHA and other PSM, ISO9000 and sound engineering and business practices as related to engineering design, specification, and projects and site improvements. (20%)
  • Develop engineering improvements to reduce equipment related to off-spec production & unsafe conditions in the plant. (10%)
  • Coordinate onsite contractors related to projects and manage the overall PSM contractor program. (10%)
  • Provide Technical/Engineering Support to Maintenance and Unit Operations. Maintain and troubleshoot the DCS control system (i.e., develop control schemes, add new instrumentation, make changes to existing systems as needed, etc.) (10%)
  • Other duties, projects and responsibilities as assigned
Education and Experience
  • B. S. Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
  • 10 years or more of experience in Engineering and Maintenance matters at the plant level with strong background in Engineering and Maintenance management.
  • Background in capital projects management.
  • Strong background in EHS and PSM.
  • Demonstrated success in leading continuous improvement in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong team player, independent worker requiring minimal day-to-day direction or oversight.
  • SAP experience
  • CMMS programs
