Sierra Nevada Corporation in Herndon, VA seeks an Engineering Manager I - Software Development to lead the engineering, deployment, and sustainment of cloud-based and AI-enabled cybersecurity platforms. You will drive secure development practices and CI/CD, and coordinate with architecture, operations, and security teams to deliver resilient capabilities.

As an Engineering Manager I - Software Development, you will be using your skills and expertise to oversee the engineering, deployment, and sustainment of cloud based and AI enabled cybersecurity platforms. While a Principal Architect owns overall platform design and architectural direction, this role ensures those designs are effectively translated into secure, scalable, and high quality implementations.

The manager leads engineering execution, including infrastructure build out, CI/CD automation, container orchestration, code quality oversight, and operational excellence. This role also manages and develops a team of cybersecurity engineers and solution architects, driving consistent engineering standards, secure development practices, and continuous improvement.

Through close partnership with architecture, operations, and security stakeholders, the manager ensures resilient cybersecurity capabilities that support mission critical needs across the organization.

• Hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools like Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Intrusion Detection System (IDS)/Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), and firewalls.
• Experience integrating cybersecurity solutions with AI/ML–based platforms.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools.
• Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, analysis and simulation.
• Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.

Essential Functions

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
