Job summary

True Anomaly is seeking an innovative Engineering Manager, Electrical Engineer to lead our electrical engineering design team in the internal development of spacecraft avionics computing hardware. You will own the full design lifecycle for a growing portfolio of custom avionics hardware spanning high-performance processing, I/O interfaces, and mixed-signal electronics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in digital/mixed-signal PCB design for aerospace/defense.
• Experience leading an electrical engineering team.
• Deep proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer or equivalent).
• Familiar with processor/FPGA/SoC architectures for embedded compute platforms.
• Experience with high-speed interfaces including PCIe, Ethernet, SpaceWire, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, USB.
• Expertise in signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC.
• Ability to deliver complex hardware on schedule in a constrained environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction for spacecraft digital and mixed-signal hardware.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of electrical engineers across PCB and digital systems.
• Oversee end-to-end hardware development: requirements, schematic capture, layout, bring-up, and testing.
• Set and enforce design standards and configuration management across programs.
• Lead trade studies evaluating architectures, components, and approaches for performance, SWaPC, reliability, and cost.
• Drive a forward-looking product vision for scalable avionics computing solutions.
• Champion process improvements across the design-to-delivery workflow.
• Manage schedules, budgets, staffing, and risk across multiple programs.
• Collaborate with embedded software, FPGA, cybersecurity, and systems teams for integration.

YOUR MISSION

True Anomaly is seeking an innovative Engineering Manager, Electrical Engineer to lead our electrical engineering design team in the internal development of spacecraft avionics computing hardware. Reporting to the VP of New Product Engineering, this role encompasses deep technical leadership alongside people management, program planning, and product delivery. You will own the full design lifecycle for a growing portfolio of custom avionics hardware spanning high-performance processing, I/O interfaces, and mixed-signal electronics. The successful candidate will bring a strong technical vision for scalable, high-reliability embedded compute architectures, a relentless focus on driving down size, weight, power, and cost (SWaPC), and the proactive mindset to continuously improve design processes and toolchains as the team and product line scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the technical direction for spacecraft digital and mixed-signal hardware, including flight computers, payloadcomputeplatforms, and interface electronics
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of electrical engineers across the full PCB and digital systems development lifecycle
• Oversee end-to-end hardware development: requirements definition, schematic capture, board layout,componentselection, bring-up, integration, and qualification testing
• Set and enforce design standards, design review processes, and configuration management practices across all digital hardware programs
• Lead technical trade studies to evaluatearchitectures, components, and development approaches with a focus on performance,SWaPC, reliability, and cost
• Drive a forward-looking product vision for scalable avionics computing solutions that can grow with True Anomaly's spacecraft programs
• Champion proactive process improvement across the design-to-delivery workflow,identifyingandeliminatinginefficiencies as the team scales
• Manage schedules, budgets, staffing, and technical risk across multiple concurrent hardware development programs
• Collaborate with embedded software, FPGA, cybersecurity, systems engineering, and test teams to ensure seamless integration of digital hardware into the spacecraft, including the implementation of a hardware root of trust across the avionics stack
• Drive compliance with applicable aerospace and defense standards and lead design reviews with internal stakeholders and customers
• Communicate product development status and issues with leadership and stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineeringor related field (Master'spreferred)
• 10+ years of professional experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex digital and mixed-signal PCB designs for aerospace, defense, or high-reliability applications
• Demonstrated experience leading an electrical engineering team focused on digital systems design
• Deepproficiencyin schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer or equivalent)
• Strong familiarity with commonprocessor, FPGA, SoC, andSoMarchitectures and their application in embeddedcomputeplatforms
• Experience with high-speed digital interfaces including PCIe, Ethernet,SpaceWire, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, and USB
• Expertisein signal integrity, power integrity, and design for EMI/EMC
• Demonstrated ability to deliver complex hardware on schedule in a resource-constrained environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience with radiation effects on digital electronics and mitigation strategies for space applications
• Understanding and familiarity with applicable aerospace standards (EEE-INST-002, SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461)
• Experience with design qualification testing, including thermal, vibration, and EMI/EMC test campaigns
• Experience designing and implementing hardware security architectures, including hardware root of trust (HRoT), secure boot, and cryptographic key management
• Hands-on experience with hardware security modules (HSMs), trusted platform modules (TPMs), or equivalent cryptographic security implementations in embedded systems
• Experience with hardware bring-up and debug using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, current probes, and automated test equipment
• Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment or a similarly dynamic setting

COMPENSATION

• Base Salary: $190,000-$295,000
• Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to maintain or obtain TS//SCI clearance
• Work Location—this role will be onsite at our Denver, CO location, with travel to other sites as needed.

• Physical demands—the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving.
